The following issues were <br />addressed: the perception of the term "no kill "; the adoptability of animals <br />and establishment of standards; the categorization of animals into four (4) <br />groups; the clarification of options before a formal commitment is made; the <br />education of citizens on their responsibilities in pet ownership; the <br />estimated cost and funding of the proposal; euthanasia - gas chamber vs. <br />lethal injection; the membership /representation on the APPAC (Animal <br />Protection & Preservation Advisory Committee); the possibility of creating a <br />separate task force charged with investigation of a "no kill" shelter and <br />other issues raised; etc. <br />Additional information requested by Board members included the <br />following: the development of a timeline and benchmarks to monitor progress; <br />and a comparison of the current animal policy and the proposed changes. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place Community Wide Adoption <br />Program on the August 16, 2010 Agenda as a New Business item. <br />Recess of Meeting <br />The Board took a short break at 4:55 p.m. The meeting reconvened at <br />5:06 p.m. <br />EDC - Presentation and Review of the Economic Development Public Investor <br />Agreement <br />
