<br />(F -15) Sheriff - Surplus and Trade -in Radios - $39,000.00
<br />The portable and mobile radios indicated below have either reached or
<br />will reach their end -of -life cycle within one year and therefore will have no
<br />support after this time. We are requesting that these radios be surplus and
<br />used as trade -in to Wireless Communications Inc to offset the purchase cost
<br />of radios for the new jail staff.

<br />We have budgeted to purchase 20 portable radios for the jail at a total
<br />cost of $83,362.00 and this trade -in will provide us a credit of $39,000.00.

<br />and unanimously carried, the Board declared portable and mobile surplus
<br />property as set forth above and authorized trade -in to Wireless
<br />Communications for credit.
<br />(F -16) Sheriff's Department - Authorization to Award Service Weapon and
<br />Badge to Dennis M. McClure Upon His Retirement from the Cabarrus County
<br />Sheriff's Department
<br />Sgt. Dennis McClure retired from the Cabarrus County Sheriff's
<br />Department on August 31, 2010. It is requested that his service weapon, a
<br />Sig Sauer, Model P226, Serial No. U71604140 and his badge, be declared
<br />surplus and awarded to him for the price of $1.00 upon his retirement,
<br />pursuant to N.C. General Statute 20- 187.2.
<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board declared surplus and authorized the award
<br />of a service weapon (Sig Sauer Model P226, 40 Caliber, Serial No. U716041)
<br />and badge for the price of $1.00 to Sgt. Dennis McClure upon his retirement
<br />from the Sheriff's Department, pursuant to N.C. General Statute 20- 187.2.
<br />(F -17) Sheriff's Office - N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Program Grant and
<br />Related Budget Amendment - $20,425.00
<br />The following budget amendment is to appropriate funds in the amount of
<br />$20,425.00 for the N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Program - DWI Enforcement
<br />Project. These funds will be used by the Sheriff's Office to purchase
<br />traffic safety equipment such as a DWI trailer, traffic cones, a light tower
