March 16, 2009 (Regular Meeting) Page 1297 <br />(H-1) Appointments - Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />The term of appointment for Ms. Barbara Blackmore on the Adult Care <br />Home Community Advisory Committee expired on February 28, 2009. At this <br />time, Ms. Blackmore does not wish to be reappointed to the Committee. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Poole and <br />unanimously carried, the Board removed Ms. Barbara Blackmore from the Adult <br />Care Home Community Advisory Committee roster and commended her for many <br />years of dedicated service. <br />(H-2) Appointments - Cabarrus County Parks Commission <br />At the February 19, 2009 meeting, the Parks Commission voted to <br />recommend the appointment of Donnie Broome to serve a 3-year term as the <br />Central Planning Area representative to replace Jimmy Morrison whose term <br />ended January 31, 2009. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Mynatt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Donnie Broome to the Parks <br />Commission to serve a three-year term ending January 31, 2012 as the Central <br />Planning Area representative as recommended by the Parks Commission. <br />(H-3) Appointments - Firemen's Relief Emend Trustees <br />The following trustees request to be reappointed to serve as Firemen's <br />Relief Fund Trustees for two-year terms ending January 31, 2011: Eric <br />Hartsell - A11en; Ned Blackwelder - Cold Water; Ken Nickles - Flowes Store; <br />Bryan Dunn - Harrisburg Rural; Clyde Kuntz - Midland; Ben Mabrey, Sr. - <br />Jackson Park. <br />The following persons request to be appointed to serve as Firemen's <br />Relief Fund Trustees for two-year terms ending January 31, 2011: Rick <br />Burleyson - Mt. Pleasant Rural; Richard V. Bergeron, II - Northeast; Dan <br />Brown - Odell; William L. Simmons - Rimer. <br />Mr. Brent Seagraves wishes to resign as trustee for Jackson Park Fire <br />Department. It is requested that Rusty Russ be appointed to fill his <br />unexpired term ending January 31, 2010. Mr. Keith Drake wishes to resign as <br />trustee for Midland Fire Department. It is requested that Allen Smith be <br />appointed to fill his unexpired term ending January 31, 2010. <br />Mt. Mitchell Fire Department and Georgeville Fire Department have opted <br />not to participate this year. Therefore, Mr. James Talbert and Mr. Carl <br />Junker should be removed from the roster as their terms have expired. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Eric Hartsell (Allen), Ned <br />Blackwelder (Cold Water), Ken Nickles (Flowes Store), Bryan Dunn (Harrisburg <br />Rural) , Clyde Kuntz (Midland) , and Ben Mabrey, Sr. (Jackson Park) , to serve <br />as Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees for two-year terms ending January 31, 2011; <br />appointed Rick Burleyson (Mt. Pleasant Rural), Richard V. Bergeron, II <br />(Northeast), Dan Brown (Odell), and William L. Simmons (Rimer), to serve as <br />Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees for two-year terms ending January 31, 2011; <br />appointed Rusty Russ (Jackson Park) and A11en Smith (Midland) to fill <br />unexpired terms ending January 31, 2010 as Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees; <br />and removed James Talbert and Carl Junker from the Firemen's Relief Fund <br />Trustees roster. <br />(H-4) Appointments - Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br />Article II, Section 5 of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council's bylaws <br />state: "Any member who fails to attend at least 75 percent of the regular <br />meetings, except for excused illness or other extraordinary circumstance, of <br />the Council during any one year period shall be removed from said Council by <br />a majority vote." JCPC Chair~Carolyn Carpenter has spoken with JCPC member <br />Reverend Aaron Wells, and due to scheduling conflicts, he is unable to <br />continue his service on the Council. The JCPC voted at their February 18, <br />2009 meeting to remove Pastor Wells from the Board and received a majority <br />vote. Therefore, the Council recommends to the Board of Commissioners that <br />Reverend Aaron Wells be removed for the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br />roster. There is no replacement at this time. <br />
