May 18, 2009 (Regular Meeting) Page 1383 (G-4) Solid Waste - Discussion on Future Operations of the Cabarrus County C 6 D Landfill Based on Projected Financial Data John Day, County Manager, requested the discussion on future operations of the Cabarrus County C & D (Construction and Demolition) Landfill be tabled until the June 1, 2009 Agenda Work Session. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Poole and unanimously carried, the Board tabled the discussion on the future operations of the C & D Landfill based on projected financial data until the June 1, 2009 Agenda Work Session. (H) APPOINTMENTS (H-1) Appointments - Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee An application to the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee has been received from Mr. Ed Burns and approved by the regional Ombudsman. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Vice Chairman Mynatt and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Mr. Ed Burns to the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee for a one-year term ending May 31, 2010. Vice Chairman Mynatt expressed her appreciation for applications received for the adult services committees but stated more applications are needed. (H-2) Appointments - Cabarrus Planning and Zoning Commission Mr. Dennis Yates, who fills an at-large "Alternate" position on the Cabarrus Planning and Zoning Commission, has resigned. There are several applications on file that are suitable to fill his unexpired term. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Poole and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Ms. Amy L. Ma to the Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission to fill an at-large "Alternate" position to complete an unexpired term ending August 31, 2010. (H-3) Appointments - Home and Community Care Hlock Grant Advisory Committee In order to implement the Home and Community Care Block Grant for Older Adults, the Board of County Commissioners must have appointed an Advisory Committee to assist the designated Lead Agency in the development of County Aging Funding Plan. This committee must be composed of potential public and private providers of aging services, elected county officials, older adults and other aging interests in the county. UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Carruth and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Chairman and County Manager to execute related documents and appointed the following people to the HCCBG Advisory Board as recommended by the Department of Aging to complete three- year terms ending January 1, 2012, including an exception to the "service on multiple boards" provision of the appointment policy for Ms. Babb: Name A enc Re resented Betty Babb Consumer Larry Belk Cabarrus County Transportation Department Gail Linker Consumer James Polk Cabarrus County Social Services Kelly Sifford Cabarrus County Commerce Department Cyndi Smart Cabarrus County Department of Aging Mary Croom Cabarrus Meals on Wheels Karin Allen Cabarrus Meals on Wheels Commissioner Poole was appointed in December 2008 as the Board's liaison to the Home and Community Care Block Grant Committee. Commissioner Poole and Ms. Linda Miller with Centralina Council of Governments will serve as Ex-Officio Liaisons. (H-4) Appointments - Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Ms. Debbie Bost wishes to resign from her position on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC). Ms. Carolyn Carpenter, JCPC Chair, requests that Marta Meares be appointed to fill Ms. Bost's unexpired term.
