Effect of Holiday Work or Non-scheduled Da ys on Other Paid Leave <br />Regular holidays or non-scheduled workdays which occur during an annual, sick <br />or other paid leave period of any officer or employee of the County shall not <br />be charged as vacation, sick or other leave. <br />Section 3. Holiday - When Work Required <br />Except for EMS and law enforcement personnel, employees who are required to <br />perform work on regularly scheduled holidays shall be paid or granted <br />compensatory time for the period worked on an hour for hour basis. <br />Section 4. Vacation Leave <br />A11 regular and probationary employees who are scheduled to work at least <br />1,000 hours during the calendar year shall receive vacation leave in <br />accordance with this policy. Vacation leave may be used at the employee's <br />discretion with prior approval of the employee's immediate supervisor or <br />department head. <br />Section 5. Vacation Leave - Manner of Accrual <br />The anniversary date of employment shall be used for determining earned <br />vacation leave. Any employee working the basic workweek shall earn vacation <br />leave at the following rates: <br />Schedule A <br />Years oP Ag gregate 9etvice Houxa Earned ei-weekly Leave Earned Yearly <br />Less than 5 ears 3 hours 9 minutes 37 seconds 80 hours 2 seconds (10+ da s) <br />5 but less than 10 ears 9 hours 109 hours (13 da s) <br />10 but less than 15 ears 4 hours 36 minutes 55 seconds 119 hours 59 minutes 50 seconds (15- days) <br />15 but less than 20 ears 5 hours 13 minutes 51 seconds 136 hours 6 seconds (17+ days) <br />20 years or more 6 hours 9 minutes 19 seconds 160 hours 9 seconds (20+ da s) <br />Schedule A is for all persons hired or rehired on July 1, 1997, or <br />thereafter; and those in full time County employment immediately prior to <br />that date who voluntarily chose to change from Schedule B effective, July 1, <br />1997, under the following conditions: <br />• County paid health plan and life insurance coverage will be provided to <br />employees retiring from Cabarrus County and qualifying for retirement <br />as a member of the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' <br />Retirement System with at least 25 of their creditable years being in <br />the service of Cabarrus County. These benefits will bepaid at the <br />same level as for active employees and will be provided to retired <br />employees until they become eligible for Medicare (or reach the age <br />where they would have had such benefits if they had been qualified for <br />Social Security). The retiree is required to notify the County when <br />they become Medicare eligible. <br />Additional health care and insurance benefit information is located in <br />Article IX, Section 2 of this ordinance. <br />(Note: This benefit was amended on October 27, 2003 and applies to <br />those employees coming to work on or after November 1, 2003. <br />Employees hired prior to November 1, 2003 are grandfathered under the <br />previous 10 years of creditable service requirement.) <br />• Employees retiring from Cabarrus County and qualifying for retirement <br />in the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System <br />but with less than 25 years of service with Cabarrus County shall <br />receive one-half of the benefit provided to retiring employees with at <br />least 25 years of service with Cabarrus County. <br />(Note: This benefit was amended on October 27, 2003 and applies to <br />those employees coming to work on or after November 1, 2003. <br />Employees hired prior to November 1, 2003 are grandfathered under the <br />previous 10 years of creditable service requirement.) <br />• Employees earning more vacation leave than listed on Schedule A for <br />their years of service will have their vacation leave accrual rate <br />remain at the then current level until or when advancement in <br />seniority entitles them to earn an increased amount of leave.
