September 21, 2009 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 1632 <br />Note: The calculations below include 10th day enrollment figures <br />from September 8, 2009. <br />The county's capital improvements plan (CIP) includes the <br />following proposed improvements that would create additional <br />capacity for the schools impacted by the project: <br />Number of Additional Seats listed in CIP <br />Year School 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2019 <br />Elementary Winecoff <br />Middle Northwest Cabarrus 300 <br />High Northwest Cabarrus 1950 <br />Seat Distribution Summary - (Based on July 2009 Capital <br />Improvements Plan) <br />Elementary - The CIP does not include proposed improvements that <br />would create additional capacity for the school impacted by this <br />project. <br />Middle - The new middle school located in the <br />northwest/Weddington Road area of the County, Harold Winkler <br />Middle School, is on schedule to be completed and ready for <br />occupancy by January or February of 2011. When this new middle <br />school opens, 300 students will be transferred from Northwest <br />Cabarrus Middle School to the new middle school due to <br />redistricting. <br />High - The new Cox Mill High School opened in August 2009 on Cox <br />Mill Road with capacity for 1450 students. The project is subject to a phasing schedule. <br />In calendar year 2009, no more than 3 multi-family <br />apartment unit permits issued; <br />
