He further advised if the Agricultural Board meets
on October 13, 2009, their report should be done before the October 19, 2009
meeting.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Vice Chairman Mynatt and
unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the Update on I-B5 Widening and
Pitts School Road Realignment on the October 19, 2009 Agenda as a New
Business item.
Library - Hook Mobile
Commissioner Carruth inquired as to the costs of a satellite library in
Midland. Chairman White advised he believed previous policy was if the
community provided the structure then the County would provide the staff and
the books. Commissioner Carruth advised there is space behind Midland's town
hall for a structure. Chairman White stated the Board can take a look at the
situation regarding the security of the books. Mike Downs, Deputy County
Manager, advised the County is purchasing a van to transport books to certain
locations. John Day, County Manager, stated the program is not open to the
public, but typically to serve shut-ins. Chairman White mentioned there is
another avenue that transports books, and discussions have been held with
Mayor pro tempore Kitts, but the disposition of the issue is unknown.
Chairman Mynatt questioned whether the decision regarding the book
mobile's discontinuance came from the library. Chairman White answered in
the affirmative. Vice Chairman Mynatt advised she is a liaison on the
Library Board and volunteered to talk to the new head librarian and inquire
about the situation.
Commissioner Poole noted the book mobile issue was in the newspaper,
and stated that not all sides of the issue were represented among the
comments. She wanted to know what options are available to the County so its
position can be publicized. Chairman White stated the County was never
contacted by the newspaper for the County's response to the issue.
Adjourn
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Carruth,
and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:57 p.m.
Cler ~, to th d
