Swaringen, Jr., Frank <br />Whitley and Ted Drain to the Department of Aging Advisory Board for 3-year <br />terms ending December 31, 2012, including an exception to the Appointment <br />Policy (Provision A-1) for Mr. Drain. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Thomas Kurzel and Char Solomon to <br />the Department of Aging Advisory Board for 3-year terms ending December 31, <br />2012 and acknowledged the service of Nancy Yates (two years) and Alleane S. <br />Reeves (six years) on this Board. <br />(H-2) Appointments - Library Board of Trustees <br />Rev. John Bigelow recently resigned his position on the Library Board <br />of Trustees (BOT) as the "Mt. Pleasant area" representative. He was <br />appointed in July of 2006. It is requested that Rev. Bigelow's service to <br />the community be acknowledged and Martha Dobson, a Mt. Pleasant resident, be <br />appointed to the BOT to complete an unexpired term ending July 31, 2012. <br />UPON MOTION Of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board acknowledged Reverend Bigelow's service to <br />the community and appointed Ms. Martha Dobson to the Library Board of <br />Trustees to complete an unexpired term ending July 31, 2012 to fill the "Mt. <br />Pleasant area" position. <br />(H-3) Appointments/Removal - Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />(NHCAC) - - <br />Ms. Desiree Lackey and Mr. G. Mitchell Hagler have submitted <br />applications to serve on the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />(NHCAC) and their applications were approved by the regional Ombudsman. The <br />term for Ms. Peggy Yost ends January 31, 2010 and she desires to be <br />reappointed to the NHCAC. Ms. Geraldine J. Maxwell resigned from her <br />position on the NHCAC on October 28, 2009 due to conflicting obligations. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner <br />and unanimously carried, the Board <br />Mitchell Hagler to the Nursing Home <br />term ending December 31, 2010. <br />Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt <br />appointed Ms. Desiree Lackey and Mr. G. <br />Community Advisory Committee for a 1-year <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Ms. Peggy Yost to the Nursing Home <br />Community Advisory Committee for a 3-year term ending January 31, 2013 and <br />removed Ms. Geraldine Maxwell from the Nursing Home Community Advisory <br />Committee roster and acknowledged her service to the community. <br />(H-4) Appointments - Commissioner Appointments for Calendar Year 2010 <br />Periodically, the Board appoints members of the Commission to various <br />boards/committees and to serve as liaisons to surrounding municipalities. <br />Chairman White asked Board members to review the appointments for the <br />calendar year 2010 so the Board can discuss liaisons for the upcoming year. <br />He advised he would like to discuss and make a vote at the January work <br />session meeting. He asked the Clerk to email information to Board members. <br />Chairman White announced Commissioner Carruth desires to serve on the <br />Transportation Advisory Board which meets every other month on Wednesdays at <br />9:00 a.m. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Commissioner Carruth as a liaison to <br />the Transportation Advisory Board. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I-1) Request for Applications for County Boards/Committees <br />Chairman White mentioned he was recently contacted by a gentleman who <br />wanted to serve on one of the boards and he urged Cabarrus County citizens to <br />do likewise and consider serving on one of the County's many boards or <br />committees.
