January 7, 2008 (Work Session) Page 673 UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the approval of the Standard Grant Award Contract and Conditions for the Criminal Justice Partnership Program (CJPP) on the January 22, 2008 Agenda as a Consent item. Resolution Authorizing Acceptance of Conveyance of Certain Real Property and Expressing Appreciation to Canterfield, LLC Richard M. Koch, County Attorney, presented a resolution accepting five parcels of land (approximately 38 acres) adjacent to Pharr Mill Park that are part of the Canterfield subdivision and runs along Rocky River. He said the intention is to incorporate this land into a greenway and the deed has been recorded. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Juba and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the Resolution authorizing acceptance of conveyance of certain real property and expressing appreciation to Canterfield, LLC on the January 22, 2008 Agenda as a Consent item. Channel 22 for Rowan County Commissioners Meetings - Baxter David Baxter, General Manager of Channel 22, reported the County received a $25, 000.00 e-NC Capital grant award which may help to broadcast the Rowan County Commissioners' meetings and would prefer to have Rowan's meetings recorded on a DVD to avoid extensive labor costs for the department. He also stated the County Attorney reviewed the Franchise Agreement and found it to be in order. Finally, he reported a complete update will be provided at a future meeting. Courthouse Design Proiect - Update John Day, County Manager, reported interviews are scheduled with the four firms that responded to the RFQ (Request for Qualifications) for the Courthouse project on January 8 and 9, 2008. Blue Ribbon Committee - Update John Day, County Manager; reported the Blue Ribbon Committee is meeting regularly and making progress. Mike Downs, Deputy County Manager, reported the Committee was divided into the sub-groups (planning, site selection and programming and design) and discussed an extensive list of items. He said the Committee plans to meet this week, sub-groups will present their findings to the entire Committee and recommendations to the Commissioners will be forthcoming. Old Bethel Elementary School - Update John Day, County Manager, reported there has been discussion on having a joint meeting with the Midland Town Council to discuss how the two boards might want to move forward on this project. He reported Midland's next meeting is on February 12, 2008 and the Board can decide when they would like to meet.
