This process would include opportunities to <br /> engage the Latino community in this process by offering courses <br /> to the public at no cost. Such courses would be the inclusion of <br /> the Latino culture and the "American way", a basic understanding <br /> of the local and state laws, conversational English courses and <br /> community events. The county will provide all services, web site <br /> information, meetings and events in Spanish. <br />$17 Develop an interactive website that allows citizens to comment <br /> and interact with departments. <br />PARKING LOT ITEMS - COMMONICATIONS <br />Value Specific Outcome <br />$60 *Deliver quarterly "State of the County" talks on Channel 22, at <br /> neighborhood meetings, as programs to civic groups and churches <br /> and articles in the newspapers. This is an opportunity to <br /> educate the public about new regulations, fees, etc. and solicit <br /> feedback to guide changes in current practices or future plane. <br />$40 *Hold an organizational or monthly meeting or town hall meetings <br /> in each of the municipalities. <br />Goal 5 - Year 2 <br />Value Specific Outcome <br />$14 Create and fund a workforce development program and staff for the <br /> school systems to ensure continual engagement and curriculum <br /> development that matches the needs of county employers. <br />$16 Identify businesses, schools, nonprofits, volunteers and any <br /> other possible sources of assistance. <br />$18 Work with RCCC to expand both their workforce development <br /> programs and entrepreneurial training, to encourage the start-up <br /> of new businesses for those that choose to do so. <br />$29 In emerging high tech career field programs, develop a grant <br /> program and provide seed funding that provides for 2 years of <br /> free education at RCCC for any Cabarrus County high school grad <br /> that has completed at least two years of his/her high school <br /> education in Cabarrus County, and is a legal resident of the US. <br />PARKING LOT ITEMS - ECONOMIC <br />Value Specific Outcome <br />$42 *Work with Rowan Cabarrus Community College to expand education <br /> services to small buainessesin the areas of business planning, <br /> accounting, etc. <br />$40 *Study the benefits of a business incubator for small businesses. <br />PARKING LOT ITEM -EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br />Value Specific Outcome <br />$37 Identify the public buildings that can be used ae shelters and <br /> make aur9 that they can be self auffioient regarding water, <br /> electricity and food storage. <br />Feedback <br />There was a short discussion on the goal-setting process used for the <br />retreat. <br />Adjourn <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:51 p.m. <br />Clerk o th B r <br />
