May 19, 2008 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 822 <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation: <br />Proclamatlo~ No. 2008-07 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus will <br />bring its Boom A Ring tour to Cabarrus Arena and Events Center <br />May 21-26, 2008 and <br />WHEREAS, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is known <br />as The Greatest Show On Earth; and <br />WHEREAS, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is one <br />of a kind; and experiencing the show has been a family tradition <br />for 138 years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is <br />expected to have a positive economic impact on the County by <br />attracting circus-goers to Cabarrus County from across the <br />region; and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County is committed to utilizing the state- <br />of-the-art Cabarrus Arena and Events Center to offer an <br />assortment of family-friendly entertainment options to enhance <br />the quality of life for Cabarrus County residents; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in celebration of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & <br />Bailey Circus coming to Cabarrus County, the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners hereby proclaims May 19 through May 26, <br />2008 as <br />Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus Week in Cabarrus <br />County <br />and encourages all residents to come to Cabarrus Arena and Events <br />Center to enjoy the Greatest Show on Earth. <br />This 19`" day of May, 2008. <br />/s/ H. Jay White, Sr., Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />(D) INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Chairman White opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at 6:93 <br />p.m. He stated each speaker would be limited to three minutes. <br />There was no one to address the Board, therefore Chairman White closed <br />that portion of the meeting. <br />(E) OLD BUSINESS <br />None. <br />(F) CONSENT AGENDA <br />(F-1) Aging - Approval of Home and Community Care Block Grant Funding Plan <br />for &'Y ' 09 <br />The following Home and Community Care Block Grant (HCCBG) Funding Plan <br />totaling $689,253.00 represents the unanimous recommendation of the HCCBG <br />Steering Committee. These funds will be distributed to the Department of <br />Aging, Department of Social Services, Commerce Department, Transportation <br />Department and Cabarrus Meals on Wheels to serve older adults during FY '09. <br />UPON MOTION of~Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the proposed FY '09 HCCBG Funding <br />plan as presented and authorized the Chairman to execute the related <br />documentation. <br />(F-2) Board of Commissioners - Budget Amendment - Animal Protection & <br />Preservation AdvisorvCOmmittee - ($750.00) <br />
