Carruth, Chairman <br />Boardof Commissioners <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Kay Honeycutt <br />Kay Honeycutt, Clerk <br />(G-10) Delegation to Raleigh <br />Vice Chairman Juba reported she had been in contact with N.C. Senator <br />Fletcher Hartsell and N.C. Representative Jeff Barnhardt concerning a <br />delegation going to Raleigh to discuss the County's most pressing issues, <br />i.e., inadequate school funding, roads, etc. Based on conversations with the <br />delegates, she reported the month of April would be a good time to go. She <br />suggested the delegation leave on a Wednesday and meet with the Legislators <br />on Thursday. <br />Commissioner White expressed support for the trip and encouraged the <br />Board to plan and prepare appropriately. <br />There was a general discussion on when to go, how many items to discuss <br />and whom to invite for the proposed trip. The dates of April 18 and 19 were <br />selected. <br />John Day, County Manager, pointed out if the Board wants other elected <br />officials to attend the meeting and have a unified message, it will take a <br />considerable amount of preparation. <br />UPON MOTION by Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to send a delegation to Raleigh to <br />meet with representatives of the North Carolina General Assembly to discuss <br />the two most urgent issues facing Cabarrus County, tentatively set for April <br />18 and 19, 2007 with Vice Chairman Juba to organize the event. <br />(H) REPORTS <br />None. <br />(Z) APPOINTMENTS <br />(I-1) Cabarrus County Agricultural Advisory Board <br />The terms of appointment on the Agricultural Advisory Board for Larry <br />Taylor and Ned Hudson ended January 31, 2007. Both members are eligible for <br />reappointment for 3-year terms ending January 31, 2010. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner White <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Larry Taylor and Ned Hudson to <br />the Cabarrus County Agricultural Advisory Board for '3-year terms ending <br />January 31, 2010. <br />(I-2) Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br />At its January 17, 2007 meeting, the Council voted to recommend the <br />following individuals for reappointment: Scott C. Robertson (Juvenile <br />Defense Attorney), Betty Crump (At-Large Member), Jerry W. Sigmon (At-Large <br />Member) and Roger F. Suclupe (At-Large Member). <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed: Scott Robertson (Juvenile <br />Defense Attorney, Betty Crump (At-Large Member), Jerry Sigmon (At-Large <br />Member) and Roger Suclupe (At-Large Member) to the Juvenile Crime Prevention <br />Council for 2-year terms ending June 30, 2008. <br />(I-B) Nursing Home Community Advisory Board <br />Chairman Carruth announced there are currently seven vacant positions <br />on the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee. <br />
