In closing, he thanked the <br />sponsors of the event and invited the public to attend. <br />(C-3) Presentation o~ Plaque to Vioe Chairman Juba for Her Service ae Chair <br />of the NCACC Criminal Justice Committee <br />Chairman Carruth presented a plaque to Vice Chairman Juba from the <br />North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) for her service as <br />an ex-efficio member of the NCACC Board of Directors and Chairman of the <br />NCACC Criminal Justice Committee. <br />(D) INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Chairman Carruth opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at <br />6:92 p.m. He stated each speaker would be limited to 3 minutes. <br />Dan McDonald, resident of 159 Union Street South in Concord, stated he <br />is very disappointed that a compromise on the jail has not been reached. He <br />also said he hopes the process will continue and the spirit of compromise and <br />cooperation will be kept alive. <br />Price Crutchfield, resident of 592 Love Street in Concord, stated he <br />heard rumors around town about the Sheriff's Department and the public has a <br />right to know the truth. He also commented on accountability in the public <br />sector. <br />Troy Barnhardt, resident of 8501 East Franklin Street in Mt. Pleasant, <br />and member of Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, stated the need for adequate <br />jail facilities to house prisoners so they do not end up back on the streets <br />because of lack of space. He asked the Board to move forward with the jail <br />as planned. <br />Marilyn Barnhardt, resident of 5800 Walbash Lane in Concord, commented <br />on housing densities and frequently seeing dead animals on the roads. She <br />was in favor of the County restricting the number of homes built to be two <br />per acre.
