<br />Sealed bids were received until 2:00 p.m. on August 22, 2007 for
<br />catering services for the LunchPlus Club Nutrition Program. The following
<br />two bids were received: Varsity BBQ ($3.60 per meal) and Canteen Vending
<br />($3.96 per meal).
<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner White
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid to Varsity BBQ at a cost
<br />of $3.60 per meal; approved the contract between Varsity BBQ and the Cabarrus
<br />County Department of Aging; and authorized the County Manager to execute the
<br />contract subject to review and/or revision by the County Attorney.

<br />Sealed bids were received until 2:00 p.m., on August 23, 2007 for the
<br />Scale House Project. Seven (7) bids were received as outlined in the bid
<br />tabulation in the attached letter from BP Barber. All bids received were in
<br />excess of the budgeted funds. Therefore, a budget amendment is attached
<br />appropriating the landfill's fund balance to cover the shortage for the
<br />construction bid and the purchase of the scale which was bid separately on an
<br />informal basis. Removing the scale from the construction project saved the
<br />County money. The apparent low bidder for construction is Ponder Company,
<br />Inc. with a total bid of $503,956.
