Spencer on February 6 and 9, 2008; <br />and <br />(9) Sets the NACo conference in Washington, DC, on March 1 - 5, 2008; <br />and <br />(5) Sets a meeting with Legislators (County Assembly Day) on May 21, <br />2008 in Raleigh; and <br />(6) Sets budget workshop meetings on May 22 and 27, 2008 from 3:30 - <br />6:30 p.m., and optional budget workshop meetings on June 9 and 5 <br />from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.; and <br />(7) Sets the NCACC conference in Craven County on August 21 - 29, <br />2008; and <br />(9) Sets the organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December <br />1, 2008 in the Commissioners' Meeting Room; and <br />(10) Resolve that any recessed, special or emergency meeting will be <br />held as needed with proper notice as required by North Carolina <br />General Statute 153A-90. <br />Adopted this the 17`" day of December, 2007. <br />/s/ H. Jay White, Sr., Chairman <br />Board of Commissioners <br />Attest: <br />/s/ Kay Honeycutt <br />Kay Honeycutt, Clerk to the Board <br />(H) NEW BUSINESS <br />(H-1) Public Hearinc for the FY 08-09 Community Transportation Program Grant <br />Application <br />Randy Bass, Transportation Director, reported a second public hearing <br />on the North Carolina Department of Transportation Section 5311 Grant <br />Application is required. He further reported the Transportation Department <br />is requesting the following assistance from the State: administrative funding <br />- $336,912.00 and capital funding (equipment and vans) - $909,960.00. Mr. <br />Bass stated the funding will be used for general public transportation in <br />Cabarrus County. <br />At 7:08 p.m., Chairman White opened the public hearing on the FY OB-09 <br />Community Transportation Program Grant Application. The Public Hearing <br />Notice was published on December 7, 2007 in THE INDEPENDENT TRIBUNE. <br />There was no one present to address the Board; therefore, Chairman <br />White closed the public hearing. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution: <br />Resolution 2007-34 <br />COMMUNITY TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM RESOLUTION <br />Section 5311 <br />FY 2008 - FY 2009 RESOLUTION <br />Applicant Seeking Permission to Apply for Community Transportation Program <br />Funding, Enter Into Agreement with The North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation and to Provide the Necessary Assurances. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Robert W. Carruth and seconded by <br />Commissioner Coy C. Privette for the adoption of the following resolution and <br />upon being put to a vote was duly adopted. <br />WHEREAS, Article 2B of Chapter 136 of the North Carolina General <br />Statutes and the Governor of North Carolina have designated the North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) as the agency responsible for <br />administering federal and state public transportation funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation will apply for <br />a grant from the US Department of Transportation, Federal Transit <br />
