<br />The Odell Recreation Association currently utilizes the four youth
<br />athletic field at Odell Elementary School, as well as the temporary fields at
<br />Harris Road Middle School, for games and practices. After January 2008, the
<br />current Odell School site will not be available. Staff from the County,
<br />school district and youth leagues have worked together to develop a plan to
<br />locate replacement facilities on available land at Cox Mill Elementary
<br />School. Based on preliminary cost estimates, it would cost a total of
<br />approximately $2,643,032.00 to develop the Cox Mill School Park, including
<br />site work, field construction, park development, storm drainage, contingency
<br />and professional services.

<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Freeman
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved funds ($2,643,032.00) for
<br />replacement of Odell School Youth Athletic facilities (six athletic fields,
<br />concession/restroom facility, roadway/parking lots, and sidewalk system) to
<br />the Cox Mill School/Park site. Further, the Board adopted the following
<br />budget amendments.

<br />Sign-Off for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College
<br />
<br />The Community College Laws, Section 115D-54, requires each Community
<br />College to submit a budget to the North Carolina Community College System
<br />annually with the approval of the counties that provide funding. For Fiscal
<br />Year 2005-06, Cabarrus County budgeted $1,335,400.00 in current expense
<br />funding for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC). The entire RCCC budget
<br />totaled $34,296,145.00.

<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Freeman
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Chairman to sign the
<br />"Required Budget Request Sign-Off" on behalf of Cabarrus County indicating
<br />that the College Budget for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has been
<br />reviewed and approved in the amount of $34,296,145.00 (with specific County
<br />funding totaling $1,335,400.00).
