She also presented statistics on tobacco use and information <br />on employee health appraisals and ongoing wellness activities. <br /> <br />Ms. Ray responded to a variety of questions on the cost of the program <br />and health screenings. <br /> <br />Mr. Downs reported that smoking cessation classes will be offered twice <br />a year. <br /> <br />Richard Koch, Acting County Attorney, reported the proposal looked fine <br />in the preliminary review, but he wanted to review it further. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the health insurance <br />premium discount for employees who are non-tobacco users on the February 20, <br />2006 Agenda as a New Business item. <br /> <br />Videotaping Agenda Work Sessions <br /> <br />In response to suggestions that the Agenda work sessions be videotaped <br />and broadcast on Channel 22, David Baxter (Public Information Officer) <br />reported approximately $4,000.00 will be needed to purchase additional audio <br />equipment. He said there may be additional manpower costs as well. <br /> <br />There was a brief discussion as to which meetings (i.e., work sessions, <br />recessed meetings, etc.) should be videotaped. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the Videotaping of Agenda <br />Work Sessions on the February 20, 2006 Agenda as a New Business item. <br /> <br />Non-Emergency Transportation/EMS <br />Associated Budget Amendment <br /> <br />Purchase of URemount" Ambulance and <br /> <br />Mike Downs I Deputy County Manager, presented a request to purchase a <br />"remount" ambulance for the Non-Emergency Transportation Program. He <br />reported the ambulance currently being used has become a maintenance problem <br />because the ambulance has 174,000 miles on it and is approximately 11 years <br />old. Due to the sale of surplus transportation vans, he reported $31,750.00 <br />is available towards the $55,000.00 needed to purchase the new unit. He said <br />the adoption of a budget amendment for the remaining $23,250.00 would be <br />necessary. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the Non-Emergency <br />Transportation/EMS purchase of a \\ remount II ambulance and associated budget <br />amendment on the February 20, 2006 Agenda as a Consent item. <br /> <br />Additional Deputy for Harrisburg <br /> <br />Mike Downs, Deputy County Manager, presented a request by the Sheriff's <br />Department for a new officer for the Town of Harrisburg. He reported <br />Harrisburg will reimburse the Sheriff's Department for the salary and <br />benefits related to the new officer. <br /> <br />There was a brief discussion as to whether the Town or the County will <br />pay for the patrol car. <br /> <br />Chairman Carruth suggested the item be placed on the Agenda as a New <br />Business item to allow staff to present additional information regarding the <br />patrol car. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the request for an <br />additional Deputy for the Town of Harrisburg on the February 20, 2006 Agenda <br />as a New Business item. <br /> <br />Purchase of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) <br /> <br />David Montague, Safety Manager, presented a request to purchase 15 <br />Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) at a cost of $17,000.00 for placement <br />in County facilities. He stated a grant was received from the Health <br />Alliance for two additional AED's, bringing the total to 18 units with one <br />unit currently located at the Arena and Events Center. Mr. Montague reported <br />CPR and AED training classes for all County employees have been scheduled for <br />February at a cost of approximately $18,000.00. <br />
