C. Research Campus. She stated a facilities task force had <br />identified the needs of the school district for the next five to eight years <br />with the purchase of land for new schools as the top priority. <br /> <br />Mr. Day stated funding was included in the Capital Improvement Plan <br />beginning in FY 2008 to purchase the necessary property. He suggested that <br />the Kannapolis City Schools begin to secure options on land for future school <br />sites. He stated he would recommend that the County pay for those options. <br /> <br />There was general agreement that <br />as soon as appropriate property is <br />securing options. <br /> <br />school officials would contact Mr. Day <br />identified to start the process for <br /> <br />Mr. Crabtree reported a 42 percent increase or an additional 2,000 <br />students is projected for KCS over the next five to eight years. He reviewed <br />the continuation and expansion items included in the FY 2007 budget request. <br />Further, he reported the latest certified numbers from the Department of <br />Public Instruction showed a KCS student population of 3,727. <br /> <br />There was a general discussion concerning the KCS budget <br />including the purchase of activity buses, school bus drivers, <br />(Average Daily Membership) funding formula, etc. <br /> <br />Position Summary (Continued from May 22, 2006) <br /> <br />requests, <br />the ADM <br /> <br />The Board completed its review of the position Summary document. The <br />Personnel Justification form was reviewed for the following departments <br />requesting to add or remove positions: Transportation (conversion of 15 part- <br />time non-benefit employees (103's) to 7 part-time employees (102's) with <br />limited benefits - i.e., no health insurance); Department of Social Services <br />_ Child Welfare Services (4 positions), Child Support Services (2 positions), <br />Economic Services (3 positions); and Solid Waste/Landfill Recycling <br />Technician. <br /> <br />FY 2007 School Budget Funding - Cabarrus County Schools <br /> <br />Pam Dubois, Deputy County Manager, reviewed the current expense and <br />capital funding requests by Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) along with County <br />Manager's recommendation. <br />
