<br />June 19, 2006 - Regular Meeting <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />679 <br /> <br />(Public Member) to the Public Health Authority for a three-year term ending <br />June 30, 2009. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Jessica Castrodale (Public Member) <br />to the Public Health Authority for a three-year term ending June 30, 2009 and <br />extended Commissioner Carpenter's appointment as the Board's designee for a <br />term ending on June 30, 2010. <br /> <br />(H-4) Piedmont Area Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse <br />Authority Area Board <br /> <br />The terms of appointment for Betty Babb and Doris Rogers on the Mental <br />Health Authority end on June 30. Ms. Babb is ineligible for reappointment <br />and Ms. Rogers does not seek reappointment at this time. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Marlynn Burns to the Piedmont Area <br />Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Authority Area Board <br />for a four-year term ending June 30, 2010. <br /> <br />Chairman Carruth (Commissioner member of the Area Board) will make a <br />recommendation for the second appointment in July. <br /> <br />(I) REPORTS <br /> <br />(I-I) Loss of Sales Tax Reimbursement for School Purchases/Construction <br /> <br />A report on the loss of sale tax reimbursements <br />purchases/contracts was included as part of the Agenda. <br /> <br />for school <br /> <br />(I-2) OPEB (Other Post Employee Benefit) - Retiree Health Insurance <br /> <br />Information on OPEB (Other Post Employee Benefit) (retiree health <br />insurance) was included as part of the Agenda. <br /> <br />(J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br /> <br />Commissioner Privette announced the Chief of the Immigration and <br />Naturalization Services (I.N.S.) would be conducting a meeting on June 26 at <br />10: 00 a. m. at the Mecklenburg County Government Center on how employers can <br />verify if employees are legal citizens. He also provided statistical <br />information on the use and cost of county services by the Hispanic population <br />in Forsyth County. <br /> <br />John <br />Director, <br />stated his <br /> <br />Day, County Manager, suggested the County's Human <br />Don Cummings, attend the meeting. Also, Commissioner <br />intent to attend the meeting in Charlotte. <br /> <br />Resources <br />Privette <br /> <br />(K) WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />(No items of business.) <br /> <br />(L) CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br />(L-l) To Discuss Pending Litigation as Authorized by N.C. General Statute <br />143-318.11 (a) (3) <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Closed Session to consult <br />with the attorney to discuss pending litigation as authorized by N.C. General <br />Statute 143-318.11(a) (3). Further, the Board invited the George Diatzikis <br />family into the Closed Session. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Juba <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to come out of Closed Session. <br /> <br />(M) ADJOURN <br /> <br />With there being no further business to corne before the Board, Chairman <br />Carruth adjourned the meeting at 11:26 p.m. <br /> <br />.J-~J.~ <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br />
