Furthermore, we request that <br />Turner Construction also require all subcontractors to verify that all their <br />employees are legal citizens. <br /> <br />Commissioner Freeman seconded the motion. <br /> <br />There was a general discussion as to how the <br />works I the accuracy of the program, the <br />organizations, etc. <br /> <br />pilot verification program <br />number of participating <br /> <br />Chairman Carruth proposed an amendment for County staff and the County <br />Attorney to research the pilot employment verification program, discuss <br />implementation of the program with representatives of Turner Construction and <br />report back to the Board at the August 14, 2006 meeting. <br /> <br />commissioner Privette added Chairman Carruth's proposed amendment to <br />his original motion. <br /> <br />Commissioner Freeman seconded Commissioner Privette's amended motion. <br /> <br />The motion as amended passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Chairman Carruth reported on the Mayor's Committee meeting that he and <br />Ms. Dubois attended. He described the make up of the committee along with <br />the process used by the committee in identifying issues related to illegal <br />immigrants and what can be done to address those issues. He stated he would <br />present a proposed structure for a local committee for discussion at the <br />August Work Session. <br /> <br />(H) APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS AND COMMITTEES <br /> <br />(H-l) Library Board of Trustees <br /> <br />The terms of Cabarrus County Library Board of Trustee members Karan B. <br />Whitley (Kannapolis) and Marjel M. Jones (Mt. Pleasant) will expire on July <br />31, 2006. Mrs. Whitley has served one term and has requested that she be <br />considered for reappointment. Mrs. Jones has served two terms and does not <br />wish to be reappointed. Reverend John H. Bigelow of Mt. Pleasant has applied <br />for appointment. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Karan B. Whitley (Kannapolis) <br />and appointed Reverend John H. Bigelow (Mt. Pleasant) to the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Trustees for a three-year term ending July 31, 2009. <br /> <br />(H-2) Mt. Pleasant Planning & Zoning Board (Alternate Extraterritorial <br />Jurisdiction Member) <br /> <br />Joe Ellington, Alternate Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) Member of <br />the Mount Pleasant Planning and Zoning Board, resigned in October 2005. The <br />Mount Pleasant Town Council has recommended the appointment of Margaret <br />Strickland to fill this position. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Margaret Stickland as an <br />Alternate Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) member to the Mt.
