<br />June 20, 2005 - Regular Meeting <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />259 <br /> <br />commissioner Juba stated the revisions to the zoning and density <br />standards were a positive direction to preserve open space and designate land <br />for retail and industrial dev"elopment. She stated the rezoning lowered <br />density in appropriate areas, offered basic amenities in more subdivisions <br />and preserved natural and a more rural quality in land. Further, she thanked <br />the citizens who came to the workshops, developers, builders, municipalities, <br />business owners, planning and zoning commission members and staff, for their <br />collaborative effort and input into the Designing Cabarrus process. <br /> <br />Chairman Carpenter expressed appreciation to staff and <br />who had participated in the Designing Cabarrus process. <br />moratorium enacted by the Board in December will officially <br />on this date (June 20) . <br /> <br />all <br />She <br />end <br /> <br />individuals <br />stated the <br />at midnight <br /> <br />vice Chairman Carruth reported he is developing a proposal that would <br />establish a tax credit program for persons buying a home that is 10 to IS <br />years old or older and located in an existing neighborhood. This would result <br />in savings as infrastructure such as water and sewer, roads, etc., would <br />already be in place in those areas. <br /> <br />(L-l) Closed Session <br /> <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Closed Session to consult <br />with the County Attorney to preserve the attorney-client privilege involving <br />potential land acquisition for the jail site and disposition of pending <br />litigation as authorized by North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a) (3). <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to come out of Closed Session. <br /> <br />No action was reported from the Closed Session. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Juba and <br />unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned at 10:55 p.m. <br /> <br />J~ .3-. ~ <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br />
