<br /> <br />December 20, 2004 (Regular Meeting) <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />The Board of Commissioners f~r the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session in the Commissioners I Meeting Room at the Cabarrus County <br />Governmental Center in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, December 20, 2004, <br />at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present - Chairman: Carolyn B. Carpenter <br />Vice Chairman: Robert W. Carruth <br />Commissioners: Robert M. Freeman <br />Joni D. Juba <br />Coy C. Privette <br /> <br />Also present were John D. Day, County Manager i <br />Jr., County Attorney; Frankie F. Bonds, Clerk to <br />Honeycutt, Deputy Clerk to the Board. <br /> <br />Fletcher L. <br />the Board; <br /> <br />Hartsell, <br />and Kay <br /> <br />Chairman Carpenter called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Boy Scout Troop 5 of Cold Springs United Methodist Church conducted the <br />Flag Ceremony. Scouts participating in the ceremony were: Jason Barnhardt, <br />Zack Morley, Nathan Bryant, Jeff Carroll, Hayden Carroll, and Hunter Carroll. <br /> <br />Reverend William Nix of the Glorieta Baptist Church gave the <br />invocation. <br /> <br />(Al APPROVAL OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the minutes of November 29, 2004 <br />(Recessed Meeting) as written. <br /> <br />(B) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda with the removal of <br />Consent Item F~l (Consent Agreement with Beazer Homes Corporation for the <br />Mountain Laurel Subdivision) at the request of Beazer Homes Corporation. <br /> <br />(C) RECOGNITIONS AND PRESENTATION <br /> <br />(C-l) Recognition of the Concord High School Spiders on winning the State 3A <br />Football Championship <br /> <br />Commissioner Freeman read and presented Coach E. Z. <br />resolution honoring Coach Smith and the Concord High <br />winning the State 3A Football Championship. <br /> <br />Smith the following <br />School Spiders on <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2004-48 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Concord High School Varsity Football Team, the "Spiders," became <br />the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3A Football Champions on <br />December 11, 2004, having defeated the football team of wilson Hunt High <br />School 27-0; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the championship victory by the Spiders was the culmination of a <br />highly successful 2004 football season, winning 15 games and losing only one <br />game; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the team's pride and commitment to excellence was symbolized by <br />dedication and hard work both on and off the playing field; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Spiders, through their display of good <br />motivation, and inspired team play, have brought great honor <br />team members but to the school and the entire community. <br /> <br />sportsmanship, <br />not only to the <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />do hereby proclaim the week of December 19-25 as <br />Concord Spiders Week <br />in Cabarrus County and call upon all citizens to ]Oln in saluting each team <br />member, Coach E. Z. Smith, Assistant Coach Clement Fleming, members of the <br />coaching staff, and all others associated with the football program at <br />Concord High School. <br /> <br />Adopted this 20'" day of December, 2004. <br />/s/ Carolyn B.
