October 20, 2003 Page 264 <br /> <br />(F-6) Procl~mation - Weatherization Day (October 30, 2003) <br /> <br /> The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services office of <br />Economic Opportunities has declared October 30, 2003, as Weatherization Day. Ms. <br />Kelly Sifford, Community Development Manager, submitted a local proclamation for <br />adoption by the Board. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION OF WEATHERIZATION DAY 2003 <br /> <br /> Whereas, October is National Energy Awareness Month, and October 30 is <br />designated as National Weatherization Day; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the County of Cabarrus has a long standing commitment to conserve <br />its resources and to help iow-income households through its Weatherization <br />Assistance Program; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the State of North Carolina has administered the Weatherization <br />Assistance Program since its inception in 1976, providing a variety of state and <br />federal resources through numerous community action agencies, housing authorities <br />and departments of local government that serve people in every county in the <br />state; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, it is important to recognize the importance of those programs that <br />ensure that all residents, especially those living at or below the federal <br />poverty level, have the opportunity to live in energy efficient, healthy, safe, <br />and comfortable homes as provided for by the Weatherization Assistance Program; <br /> <br /> Now, Therefore, I, Robert M. Freeman, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />(F-7) Cooperative Extension - Budget Amendment (Philip Morris Empioyee Fund) <br /> <br /> The 4-H SOS Goldminers received $10,000.00 from the Philip Morris Employee <br />Community Fund Grant to provide special program supplies and purchased services. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendment. <br /> <br /> BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF Cooperative Extension <br />AMOUNT: $10,000.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Appropriation of Philip Morris Employee Fund Grant received <br />by Cooperative Extension on August 08, 2003. Funding will provide special <br />program supplies and purchased services which includes enrichment activities. Brent Weisner, Tax Administrator, pursuant to North <br />Carolina General Statute 105-381 and granted authority to the Tax Collector to <br />process the refunds and releases. <br /> <br /> <br />
