November 17, 2003 Page 295 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to come out of the Closed Session and <br />return to open session. <br /> <br />No action was reported from the Closed Session. <br /> <br />General Discussion - Economic Development <br /> <br /> Mr. Day reported on his attendance at the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of <br />Commerce retreat in Asheville during the weekend. One of the major topics of <br />discussion was on economic development and how to provide a more coordinated and <br />focused effort on economic development in the community. One suggestion was for <br />the Chamber of Commerce to convene a meeting and invite all stakeholders to have <br />discussions as to how to create a more comprehensive economic development program <br />in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> There was discussion about the local economic development program and the <br />possibility of the County Commissioners and the Economic Development Corporation <br />Board of Directors holding a joint meeting to further discuss the matter. <br /> <br />(M) RECESS OF THE MEETING <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Freeman <br />recessed the meeting at 11:15 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, <br />2003, at the Cabarrus County Education Center, 4401 Old Airport Road, Concord, <br />North Carolina. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
