The Cabarrus <br />Regional Chamber of Commerce submitted the following nominations for Seat <br />Number 6: Jay Howard, Roger Haas and Sam Farina. <br /> <br /> Mr. Day reported that Chairman Freeman had asked the Tourism Authority <br />and Chamber of Commerce to submit a longer list of nominees in order to <br />provide a better geographic representation of Cabarrus County. He stated the <br />Tourism Authority had made no additions to its submission, but the Chamber of <br />Commerce had added Doug Stafford to its list of nominees. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette nominated Doug Stafford for appointment to Seat <br />Number 5 on the Tourism Authority. Commissioner Carpenter nominated Roger <br />Haas to Seat Number 6 on the Tourism Authority. <br /> <br /> The Board unanimously voted to appoint Doug Stafford to Seat Number 5 <br />and Roger Haas to Seat Number 6 on the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority for <br />terms of three years ending December 31, 2006. <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> <br /> The terms of appointment for Andrea Palo (Townships 1/2/3), Lee Efird <br />(Kannapolis School Board) and George Culp (Township 12) end on January 31, <br />2004. Ms. Palo has served seven consecutive years, and Mr. Efird is a <br />resident of Rowan County. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carpenter nominated Justin Thibault for appointment to the <br />Townships 1/2/3 position on the Parks and Recreation Commission. She also <br />moved to accept the recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Commission to <br />appoint Danita Rickard (Kannapolis School Board) and to reappoint George Culp <br />(Township 12). <br /> <br /> The Board unanimously voted to appoint Justin Thibault (Townships <br />1/2/3), to appoint Danita Rickard (Kannapolis School Board) and to reappoint <br />George Culp (Township 12) to the Parks and Recreation Commission. The terms <br />of appointment are effective February 1, 2004 and end on January 31, 2007. <br /> <br />Department of Aging Advisory Board <br /> <br /> The terms of appointment for Alleane Reeves, Emma Rogers, Marilu Peck, <br />Robert Mathis and John Suther end on December 31, 2003. Mr. Suther has <br />served six consecutive years and is ineligible for reappointment. The <br />Department of Aging Advisory Board recommended the appointment of Virginia <br />Walker to replace Mr. Suther and the reappointment of the other members. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette nominated Ms. Reeves, Ms. Rogers, Ms. Peck and <br />Mr. Mathis for reappointment and nominated Virginia Walker to fill the <br />position previously held by Mr. Suther. <br /> <br /> The Board voted unanimously to reappoint Alleane Reeves, Emma Rogers, <br />Marilu Peck and Robert Mathis and to appoint Virginia Walker to the <br />Department of Aging Advisory Board. The three-year terms of appointment end <br />December 31, 2006. <br /> <br /> <br />
