May 20, 2002 Page 358 <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 2002-18 <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> RESOLUTION <br />DIRECTING RESOLUTION OF UNCERTAIN BOUNDARY BETWEEN <br />MECKLENBURG COUNTY AND CAIBARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, some uncertainty exists as to the precise location of the <br />boundary, at certain places, between Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, pursuant to <br />N.C.G.S. 153A-18, appointed Jonathan Marshall to be a special commissioner to <br />supervise the surveying, marking and mapping of the boundary between <br />Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mecklenburg County also appointed a special commissioner to <br />supervise the surveying, marking and mapping; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the special commissioner for Mecklenburg County and the <br />special commissioner for Cabarrus County have now agreed upon a proposed <br />boundary between the two counties, a copy of a map showing the proposed <br />boundary being attached as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference <br />("Map"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Cabarrus County has <br />agreed that the boundary between Mecklenburg County and Cabarrus County shall <br />be as shown on the Map; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />authorize Jonathan Marshall to commission the survey of the boundary between <br />Mecklenburg County and Cabarrus County as shown on the Map attached as <br />Exhibit A once approved by Mecklenburg County; and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that once the. Map has been approved by the Board of <br />Commissioners of Mecklenburg County, and the new boundary has been surveyed, <br />Jonathan Marshall is directed to prepare the necessary documents and place <br />this matter back before the Board to complete the statutory process for <br />officially revising the boundary. <br /> <br />Adopted the 20tn day of May, 2002. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Frankie F. Freeman <br />Chairman, Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Presentation of the 2001 Annual Report for the Adult Care Home and Nursing <br />Home Community Advisor~ Committees <br /> <br /> Ms. Linda Miller, Ombudsman with the Centralina Council of Governments, <br />presented the 2001 Annual Report for the Adult Care Home and Nursing Home <br />Community Advisory Committees. She recognized the following committee <br />members who were present for the meeting: Nursing Home - Marie Pless, Dale <br />Blackmon and Eva Mae Evans; Adult Care Home - Joyce Kluttz. <br /> <br /> Ms. Kluttz stated the need for additional volunteers to serve on the <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee. She also addressed the need <br />for additional nursing home beds as residents move from the assisted living <br />homes to nursing homes due to failing health. <br /> <br /> Ms. Evans commented on the need for more volunteers to serve on the <br />Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee. <br /> <br /> The Board expressed appreciation to the current advisory committee <br />members for their work and discussed possible ways to recruit additional <br />volunteers. Commissioner Fennel addressed the possibility of appointing high <br />school students to the committees. <br /> <br />The Arts Exl0erlence - Quincy Foil Ruth <br /> <br /> Ms. Quincy Foil Ruth, President of The Arts Experience, presented a <br />video highlighting the art education opportunities that the non-profit <br />organization provides to area youth throughout the year. Core programs <br />include The Arts Experience Children's Choirs and Youth Oratorio, The Summer <br />Experience, The Summer Choir Experience and Professional Development <br />Workshops. <br /> <br /> <br />
