C. Department of Transportation to Process Ail <br />Road Additions to the State Maintenance System Without Further Approval by <br />the Board <br /> <br /> The Board currently handles requests by the North Carolina Department <br />of Transportation (NCDOT) to add roads to the secondary road system as an <br />item on the Consent Agenda. Mr. Joe Wilson, District Engi'neer with the <br />NCDOT, has suggested a resolution that would allow NCDOT to process those <br />road additions without further approval by the Board. Commissioners of <br />different counties in the State have adopted a similar resolution. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Vice Chairman Carruth and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 2001-26 <br />STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />COUNTY OF CABARRUS <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> NORTH CAROLINA STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION <br /> REQUEST FOR ADDITION TO STATE MAINTAINED <br /> SECONDARY ROAD SYSTEM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, petitions are being filed with the Board of County Commissioners of <br />the County of Cabarrus for addition to the North Carolina State Department of <br />Transportation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the County <br />of CABARRUS does not investigate these petitioned roads for addition; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners relies on the North Carolina State <br />Department of Transportation to investigate these petitioned roads and <br />determines if they meet the established standards and criteria for addition <br />to the State Maintenance System. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the County Commissioners of the County of <br />Cabarrus that the Division of Highways is hereby requested to process all <br />road additions without the further approval of the Board of County <br />Commissioners. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this the 17tn day of September, 2001. <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />/s/ Arne L.
