241 <br /> <br />Occupancy Tax <br /> <br /> There was brief discussion regarding the authorized use of the <br />occupancy tax collected in Cabarrus County. Recent legislation gave the <br />County authorization to increase the rate from five percent to six percent. <br /> <br />Closed Session <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner ?rivette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Closed Session to discuss a <br />personnel matter as authorized by North Carolina General Statute 143A- <br />318.11(a) (6). <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to end the Closed Session. <br /> <br />No action was reported from the Closed Session. <br /> <br />Compensation Study <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton and Mr. Don Cummings, Human Resources Director, reviewed <br />the compensation study that was recently completed for County employees and <br />the recommendations resulting from that study. In accordance with County <br />policy, a salary study is now conducted every two years. <br /> <br /> There was general discussion regarding the compensation study and the <br />recommendations by the consultant and the County Manager. <br /> <br /> This item will be placed on the December 17th agenda for further review <br />and possible action by the Board. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman <br />Fennel adjourned the meeting at 10:48 p.m. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
