UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Diane Honeycutt to Seat Number 8 (Tourism Authority Nominee) on the Tourism Authority for a term of three years effective January 1, 2002 and ending December 31, 2004. Ms. Honeycutt will fill the position held by Steven Propst who had served on the Authority since 1992. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Pastor Sam Farina to Seat Number 6 (Chamber of Commerce nominee) on the Tourism Authority. Pastor Farina will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Terri L. Hill and will complete an unexpired term ending December 31, 2003. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board appointed John Cox to Seat No. 9 (Chamber of Commerce Nominee) on the Tourism Authority for a term of three years beginning January 1, 2002 and ending December 31, 2004. Mr. Cox will fill the position previously held by Roger Haas who had served on the Tourism Authority since 1993. UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Sharon Campbell, Marketing Director for Concord Mills Mall, to Seat No. 7 (at large member) on the Tourism Authority, with the understanding that she will be relocating to Cabarrus County. Ms. Campbell's appointment was for a term of three years beginning January 1, 2002 and ending December 31, 2004. She will fill the position previously held by Lynne Priestley. Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Betty Moss to the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee for a term of three years ending December 31, 2004. Home and Communit~ Care Block Grant Steering Committee The Board received the correspondence from Michael Murphy, Aging Services Director, concerning the appointment of staff members to the Home and Community Care Block Grant Steering Committee. Also, the Board received correspondence from Jack Airheart, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Coltrane L.I.F.E. Center, Inc., requesting the appointment of Susan Caudle, Executive Director of the L.I.F.E., to the Committee. Previously, the Board had declined to appoint those individuals a's they reside outside Cabarrus County. There was brief discussion regarding the residency requirement for appointments to boards and committees. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board appointed the following persons to the Home and Community Care Block Grant Steering Committee as ex officio members with no voting power and asked the Committee to continue to look for other appointees who are Cabarrus County residents: Michael Murphy (Aging Services Director); Susan Caudle (Executive Director of the Coltrane L.I.F.E. Center); Chasity Stoker (Cabarrus Aging Network); and Laurie Abounader (Centralina Area Agency on Aging). Cabarrus County Transportation Advisory Board The Board received the written request from James Sasser, Transportation Planner, to expand membership of the Transportation Advisory Board and appoint the following persons: Monica H. Everhart; Brenda Ward; Tim Bullard; and Wendy Griffin. It was noted that Ms. Griffin (Social Worker with the North Carolina Division of Services for the Blind resides outside Cabarrus County° UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Wendy Griffin as an ex officio member of the Cabarrus County Transportation Advisory Board with no voting power.
