Everhardt (Piedmont Behavioral/Consortium Multi- <br />County Office); Brenda Ward (Clinical Social Worker/Mental Health Division <br />Piedmont Behavioral); and Tim Bullard (member of the Cabarrus County Juvenile <br />Crime Prevention Council!. <br /> <br />Committee for the National Day of Prayer Observance <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Vicki Farina to the Committee <br />for the National Day of Prayer Observance. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, 'seconded by Commissioner Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Dr. Forbis Kivette to the <br />Committee for the National Day of Prayer Observance. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Judy tsenhour to the Committee <br />for the National Day of Prayer Observance. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Reverend Grant Harrison, Jr., to the <br />Committee for.the National Day of Prayer Observance. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Suggs reported his proposed nominee currently resides <br />outside Cabarrus County. He stated he would have a nominee for appointment at <br />the next Board meeting. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner ~Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board agreed for the Chairman to serve as <br />Liaison to the Committee for the National Day of Prayer Observance. <br /> <br />INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Chairman Freeman opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at <br />8:50 p.m. and asked if anyone wished to address the Board. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wilburn Livengood questioned the poor condition of the exercise <br />equipment at the Senior Center and the failure to repair broken equipment. He <br />said he had been told that there are no funds to maintain the exercise room. <br />However, he stated in his opinion the County should have some money for <br />senior citizens since it has money for soccer fields and schools. Also, Mr. <br />Livengood complained that the walking trail at the Senior Center has not yet <br />been paved. <br /> <br /> Vice Chairman Carruth volunteered to investigate the complaint and give <br />a report to the Board. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS DISCUSSION & RESPONSE TO INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Vice Chairman Carruth commended the recent series of news articles (THE <br />CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, Cabarrus Neighbors) concerning the Hispanic population in <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Fennel read the following list of winners in the 2001 <br />Holiday Tree Contest. <br /> <br />Elementary School <br />First Place <br />Second Place <br />Third Place <br /> <br />Mt.
