Official notification in <br /> writing from said county of the lump sum dollar amount to be paid <br /> to each employee will be processed for payment and billed to the <br /> county for reimbursement to NCSU in the monthly payroll the month <br /> after notification is received in the Extension Personnel Office. <br /> Yes No X <br />The effective beginning date for implementing this Agreement will be <br />July 1, 2000, and it may be reviewed annually and may be terminated by <br />either party with a sixty-day notice in writing. <br />This Agreement supersedes the "Amendment to Cabarrus County Memorandum <br />of Understanding", effective November 6, 1989. <br /> <br />Signed: <br /> <br />Chair, Board of County Commissioners Date <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board Date <br /> <br />Director, North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service Date <br />North Carolina State University <br /> <br /> Date <br /> <br />Director of Purchasing <br />North Carolina State university <br /> <br />Resolution Recommendinq Support of Fundinq for Federal Land and Water <br />Conservation Proqram <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter seconded by Chairman Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 2000-07 <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING SUPPORT OF FUNDING FOR LA/gD AND <br /> <br /> WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAM <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for over 30 years, the Land and Water Conservation 'Fund was a <br />legacy left behind by the Outdoor Recreation Review Commission of the Federal <br />Government to assist in funding, specifically for the purpose of acquiring <br />and developing natural resources that would provide recreational <br />opportunities and preservation of open space for future generations; and <br /> WHEREAS, Land and Water Conservation Funds were generated from revenues <br />produced from the sale of the country's natural resources, specifically off- <br />shore drilling rights; and <br /> WHEREAS, the need to preserve open spaces and develop and maintain <br />national, state and local parks and recreational facilities becomes more <br />critical each year due to the demands placed on such facilities by ever <br />increasing populations; and <br /> WHEREAS, during the last sessions of Congress, both the House and the <br />Senate introduced Bills which would reinstate funding for the Land and Water <br />Conservation Fund or similar programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County has identified over ten million dollars of <br />needed improvements for parks and recreation facilities, including renovation <br />to existing facilities, development of new facilities, development of <br />greenways, and protection and acquisition of open space, with funding of <br />these projects limited from local sources; and <br /> WHEREAS, reinstatement for funding for the Land and Water Conservation <br />Fund or similar programs would greatly benefit the Cabarrus County as it <br />develops and renovates recreational facilities for future generations. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS THAT: <br /> <br />2 o <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners urges members of the House <br />of Representatives and Senate of the United States Congress to support <br />reinstating the funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund or <br />similar programs which would greatly benefit both state and local <br />governments as they strive to meet the continual needs of recreational <br />services for their citizens. <br />A copy of this resolution shall be sent to the U.S. House <br />Representative of 8tn Congressional District and to both U.S. Senators <br />who represent North Carolina. <br /> <br />Read, approved and adopted this 20th date of March, 2000. <br /> <br />/s/ Frankie F.
