Imp. - FUNB Renovations <br /> <br />Increase <br /> <br />$ 500,000.00 <br /> <br /> Revised <br /> Decrease Budget <br />$500,000.00 $ 415,727.00 <br /> <br />$1,057,000.00 <br /> <br />Exchange of Property by the Cabarrus County Board of Education with Westford <br />United Methodist Church <br /> <br /> Mr. Tim Sherman, Trustee Chairperson with the Westford United Methodist <br />Church, reviewed the proposal for the exchange of property between the <br />Central Cabarrus High School and the Church. The School would receive 0.649 <br />acres on which to build a dugout and the Church would receive 1.331 acres for <br />the construction of a playground. Also, the Church would pay for the lawyer's <br />fees and the property survey. <br /> <br /> Dr. Harold Winkler, County Schools Superintendent, advised in a letter <br />dated December 8, 2000 that the Board of Education approved the even exchange <br />of property between Central Cabarrus High School and Westford United <br />Methodist Church at its meeting on December 6, 2000. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board waived its right, pursuant to North <br />Carolina General Statute 115C-518, to purchase the property next to Central <br />Cabarrus High School that the Cabarrus County Board of Education proposes to <br />swap with Westford United Methodist Church. <br /> <br />Participation in the city of Concord Downtown Parking Management Plan Pro~ect <br />(County Funding of $10,000) <br /> <br /> The City of Concord is in the process of conducting a Downtown Parking <br />Management Plan at an estimated cost of $23,000.00±. The Plan will identify <br />existing parking usage, examine issues such as utilizing parking meters, time <br />limits and paid lots, and redesign off street lots and on street parking <br />where appropriate. The study will also examine current and future County and <br />Court related parking demands. The City has asked that the County <br />participate financially to help defray the cost of the Plan. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized County funding of $10,000.00 (from <br />the Commissioners' Consultant Budget) to participate in the City of Concord <br />Downtown Parking Management Plan. <br /> <br />Department of Social Services - Approval of Three New Income Maintenance <br />Caseworker Positions and Adoption of Budget Amendment <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Cook, Social Services Director, requested the creation of three <br />new income maintenance caseworker positions using new federal funds and funds <br />from NorthEast Medical Center. One employee would be stationed at the <br />hospital emergency room and the other two housed at the Employment Security <br />Commission.
