471 <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 1997-21 <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED that Sections 58-112 and 58-115 of the Code of <br />Ordinances, Cabarrus County, North Carolina, are hereby amended to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 58-112. Term; renewal <br />A franchise shall be for a term <br />determined by the board and may be renewable. <br /> <br />Sec. 58-115. Franchises. <br />Notwithstanding any other provision of this division to the contrary, <br />the board may grant nonexclusive or exclusive franchises for the <br />collection and disposal of residential, commercial, industrial, <br />institutional and construction and demolition wastes throughout the <br />county. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 20th day of January, 1998 by the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners. <br /> <br /> /s/ Sue B. Bonds, Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />Agreement with the American Red Cross for the Utilization of the Cabarrus Count~ <br /> <br />Senior Center as a Red Cross Emergency Shelter <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the "Statement of Understanding between <br />the Cabarrus County Senior Center and the American Red Cross" for the utilization <br />of the Senior Center as a Red Cross Emergency Shelter. <br /> <br />Disposition of the Charles B. Ayeock Elementar~ School Pro~ert~ by the Kanna~olis <br />Cit~ Board of Education <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board confirmed that Cabarrus County is not interested <br />in purchasing the Aycock School property and agreed that the Kannapolis City <br />Board of Education should pursue the sale of the old school site at the highest <br />bid with the proceeds to be applied to reduce existing school debt or for capital <br />outlay purposes pursuant to North CarolinaGeneral Statute 115-518(a). <br /> <br />Department of Social Services - Budget Amendment Providing for the Addition of <br />Two Fraud Program Staff Members Using New State and Federal Grant Funds <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following budget amendment providing <br />for the addition of two fraud program staff members effective February 1, 1998 <br />using new State and Federal grant funds with the following stipulations: (1) <br />Approval conditioned on State and Federal revenues being made available to offset <br />costs; (2) Monitor costs versus recoveries for effectiveness; and (3) Review <br />annually, subject to renewal of grant revenues. <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES <br />AMOUNT: $27,883.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Adds two fraud program workers. <br /> <br /> Present Approved <br />Account No. Budget <br />EXPENSE <br />56-10-101 <br /> Salaries and Wages <br />56-10-201 <br /> FICA <br />56-10-202 <br /> Medicare <br /> <br /> Increase <br />1,400,295.78 18,184 <br />90,574.36 1,128 <br />21,182.67 264 <br /> <br />Decrease <br /> <br /> Revised <br /> Budget <br /> <br />1,418,479.78 <br /> 91,702.36 <br /> 21,446.67 <br /> <br /> <br />
