The <br />County Manager, Human Resources Director and Mr. Rowland will be involved in the <br />initial interview process. <br /> <br />Nursin~ Home Community Advisory Committee <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Niblock, seconded by Commissioner Mills with <br />Commissioners Niblock, Mills and Barnhart and Chairman Casper voting for, the <br />Board appointed Ms. Margaret L. Stevenson to the Nursing Home Community Advisory <br />Committee for an initial term of one year ending January 31, 1999. <br /> <br />Recognition of District Court Judges <br /> <br /> Chairman Casper suggested that the Board consider recognizing the retiring <br />judges with portraits to be placed in the Courthouse. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner'Mills with <br />Commissioners Barnhart, Mills and Niblock and Chairman Casper voting for, the <br />Board approved the placement of the judges' portraits in the Courthouse and <br />agreed to invite the two judges to a Commissioners' Meeting to make a formal <br />presentation of the portraits. Further, it was suggested that a reception be <br />held prior to the meeting. <br /> <br />Update on the Animal Shelter <br /> <br /> Chairman Casper reported that Sheriff Robert Canaday had advised that the <br />new Animal Shelter should be ready for operation the third or fourth week of <br />February. <br /> <br />Board Retreat <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the scheduling of a Board Retreat at the Graylyn <br />Conference Center in Winston-Salem on a Friday and Saturday during the month of <br />March. Mr. Day will make the arrangements and advise the Board of the selected <br />dates. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS <br /> <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Niblock, seconded by Commissioner Mills with <br />Commissioners Niblock, Mills and Barnhart and Chairman Casper voting for, the <br />Board approved the following appointments/reappointments to the Cabarrus County <br />Parks and Recreation Commission pursuant to the Commission reorganization <br />approved by the Board on October 20, 1997: <br /> <br />Andrea Palo - Townships 1, 2 & 3 - 3-year term ending January 31, 2001 <br />Bob Misenheimer - Township 4 - 2-year term ending January 31, 2000 <br />LaRhonda Watkins - Township 11 - 2-year term ending January 31, 2000 <br />Margaret W.
