Casper, Chair <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Presentation of Cabarrus County's Mission Statement <br /> <br /> Mr. Don Moorhead, Human Resources Director, presented a proposed Mission <br />Statement for Cabarrus County: Enhancing the present to secure the future by <br />providing quality services to our diverse community. The Mission Statement was <br />developed by a committee consisting of the following employees: Aging Tami <br />Collins; Board of Elections Betty Garmon; Cooperative Extension - Christine <br />Barrier; Development Services - Jay Lowe; Emergency Management Services - Joel <br />Winston; Finance - Linda Benton; General Services Michelle Davis; Home Health - <br />Dee Dee Mercer; Information Services Randy Edwards; Library - Steve Gainey; <br />Parks and Recreation - Joan Swaringen; Planning Services Peter Tatge; Public <br />Health - Becky Yarborough; Sheriff - William Blakely; Social Services D D <br />Wright; Soil & Water District - Helen Barnes; Tax - Bill Kouri; Veterans Services <br />Joan Hathcock; Register of Deeds - Sandra McVay(has resigned from the County). <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Mills and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following Mission Statement for <br />Cabarrus County: Enhancing the present to secure the future by providing quali~y <br />services to our diverse community. <br /> <br /> Board Chair Casper presented a framed copy of the Mission Statement to each <br />of the committee members who were present for the meeting. <br /> <br />Bid Award of the Northwest Cabarrus Softball Field Li~htin8 Project <br /> <br /> The following bids were received on March 4, 1997 for the 'Parks and <br />Recreation Northwest High School Field Lighting project (matching grant for <br />Winecoff School). <br /> <br />BID TABULATION <br /> <br /> Company <br />Hunter-Knepshield Company <br />Musco Sports Lighting <br /> <br />Bid (Includes Shippins~ <br />$27,566.00 (Bid Incomplete) <br />$28,776.00 <br /> <br /> Ms. Sherri Barnhardt, Purchasing Agent, advised that the bid by Hunter- <br />Knepshteld was incomplete. The company omitted the fixtures necessary to light <br />the foul strips on the outside of each baseline as diagramed and outlined by the <br />Illumination Engineering Society, Sports Lighting Recommended Practices and <br />Guidelines, Publication No. RP-6-88. She recommended the award of bid to Musco <br />Sports Lighting. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid for the Northwest Cabarrus <br />Softball Field Lighting Project to Musco Sports Lighting in the amount of <br />$28,776.00 as the bid submitted by Hunter-Knepshteld Company was incomplete. <br /> <br />Appointment - Board of Equalization and Review <br /> <br /> Commissioner Mills nominated Ms. Mary L. Snow for appointment to the Board <br />of Equalization and Review. Commissioner Barnhart nominated Mr. Harry G. Brown <br />for appointment. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioners Mills and <br />unanimously carried, the nominations were closed. <br /> <br /> <br />
