Motorola is the <br />only company that makes transmitters and controllers compatible with the 800 MHz <br />system that is used by the City of Concord. <br /> <br />Sheriff's Department - Authorization to Purchase Radio Equipment for the County- <br />Wide 800 MHz Radio System Using the Gity of Goncord's Original Radio Equipment <br />Bid Awarded to Motorola (FY 1997-98 Budget Proposal) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the request by the Sheriff's Department <br />to Upiggybac~' a Radio Communication Bid awarded by the City of Concord to <br />Motorola on January 9, 1997 for the purchase of portable and mobile radios for <br />the new county-wide 800 MHz radio system as authorized by North Carolina General <br />Statute 143-129. <br /> <br />Sheriff's Department - Acceptance of U.S. Department of Justice Grant to Upgrade <br /> <br />Computer System; Authorization to Purchase Equipment from Current Vendor Usin~ <br />the "Sole Source" Purchase Exemption Contained in G.S. 143-129; and Adoption of <br /> <br />Related Budget Amendment <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board accepted the COPS More Grant in the amount of <br />$176,709.00 from the U. S. Department of Justice to upgrade the computer system <br />for the Sheriff's Department and authorized the purchase of equipment directly <br />from the current vendor (VISIONS) using the "Sole Source" purchase exemption <br />contained in North Carolina General Statute 143-129.
