Belk & Sons X 22,700 <br />Hinson Electric X 23,894 <br /> <br /> Mr. John Day, Budget Officer/Area Manager, recommended the award of the <br />mechanical contract to Piping, Plumbing, Mechanical Contractors, Inc. at the <br />negotiated amount of $292,681.00 and the award of the electrical contract to E. <br />F. Belk and Sons in the amount of $20,700.00. He explained that the bid award <br />of $313,381.00 was $113,381.00 over the original cost estimate due to additions <br />to the scope of work ($75,700.00), inflation of 7.5 percent ($23,280.00), and <br />underestimation of the cost of the work ($14,401.00). <br /> <br /> Board members expressed concerns about the increased cost of the project. <br />Mr. Mike Ward, Engineer, and Mr. Ken Griffin, Architect, responded to questions <br />by the Board. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Niblock and <br />unanimously carried, the Board awarded the Courthouse HVAC Renovation project to <br />the low bidders as follows: <br /> <br />Mechanical Services - Piping, Plumbing, Mechanical Contractors, Inc. <br /> $292,681.00 (Negotiated Amount) <br />Electrical Services - E. F.
