145 <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />Proposal for the Purchase of a Mobile Dental Unit - Dr. David Lockhart, Chairman <br />of the Board of Health <br /> <br /> Dr. Fred Pilkington, Health Director, briefly outlined the advantages of <br />a self-propelled mobile dental unit, specifically the portability of the unit. <br />The estimated cost of the unit is $180,000.00 with one-half of the cost to be <br />obtained from private sources. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved $90,000.00 for the purchase of a mobile <br />dental unit for the Health Department. County funds will be used only if matching <br />private funds are available. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS CONSENT <br /> <br />Approval of Release of $596,000.00 Funding Held in Reserve for Capital Start-Up <br />Costs for the Weddington Hills Elementary School and Adoption of Related Budget <br />Amendment <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board tabled consideration of the start-up costs for <br />Weddington Hills Elementary School pending further discussion when appropriate <br />staff is present to answer any questions by the Board. <br /> <br />Approval of $3,500.00 Loan to the Rimer Volunteer Fire Department and Adoption <br />of the Related Budget Amendment <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved an interest free loan of $3,500.00 to the <br />Rimer Volunteer Fire Department to be repaid to the County on November 15, 2003 <br />consistent with the lease-purchase agreement between the River Volunteer Fire <br />Department and the LaSalle Fire Equipment Company for a pumper truck. Further, <br />the Board adopted the following budget amendment. <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF COUNTY MANAGER <br />AMOUNT: $3,500 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Appropriate funds for loan to Rimer Volunteer Fire Department <br />for purchase of pumper truck. <br /> <br /> Present Approved <br />Account No. Budget Increase Decrease <br /> <br />Revised <br />Budget <br /> <br />01-9-27-70-773 <br /> Rimer Vol. Fire Dept. <br />01-9-19-10-660 <br /> Contingency <br /> <br />1,895.00 3,500.00 5,395.00 <br />237,436.84 3,500.00 233,936.84 <br /> <br />The request by the Rimer Volunteer Fire Department to increase the Rimer Fire <br />District tax rate from $0.45 to $.05 was not included in the FY '97 budget <br />presentation to the Board. Approval of the loan will rectify a staff error and <br />help the Rimer Fire Department avoid a default of its agreement with LaSalle. <br /> <br />Approval of Application by the Winecoff Volunteer Fire Department to Operate as <br />~..First Responder Agency in Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the application by the Winecoff Volunteer <br />Fire Department to operate as a first responder agency in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />Budget Amendment -Public Health (March of Dimes Donation) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendment. <br /> <br /> <br />
