Barnhart, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Proclamation - Adult Day Service Centers Week (September 15 - 21, 1996) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Fennel with <br />Chairman Barnhart and Commissioners Fennel and Niblock voting for, the Board <br />adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />ADULT DAY SERVICE CENTERS WEEK <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />there are over 3000 Adult Day Service Centers nationwide <br />and over 80 centers in North Carolina providing a safe <br />and positive environment to partially disabled <br />individuals in need of daytime assistance or <br />supervision; and <br />adult day service centers provide opportunities for <br />social interactions to otherwise isolated individuals <br />and assist them in attaining and maintaining a maximum <br />level of independence; and <br />these centers are bridging the gap between long-term <br />institutionalization and independent living; and <br />adult day service centers provide respite and ease the <br />burden of the familial caregivers who are providing care <br />at home for their loved ones; and <br />Cabarrus County is the home of L.I.F.E. CENTERS, INC., <br />a national model providing quality care in two locations <br />for this special population of older adults. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jeffrey L. Barnhart, Chairman of the <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, by virtue of the power and <br />authority vested in me by the laws of the County, do hereby proclaim <br />September 15-21, 1996 as: <br /> ADULT DAY SERVICES WEEK IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br />and urge the citizens of Cabarrus County to recognize this event and <br />to participate by paying tribute to the dedicated people who provide <br />this valuable service to older adults. <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed <br />the official seal of the County of Cabarrus this 16th day of <br />September, 1996. <br /> /s/ Jeffrey L.
