This <br />temporary employee works in the WIC Immunization Demonstration project. <br /> <br />Presentation Relative to the Community Service Block Grant Program - Ms. Carolyn <br />Carpenter, Chairperson, Homeless Task Force. <br /> <br /> Ms. Carolyn Carpenter, Chairperson of the Homeless Task Force, reported <br />that $80,278.00 in Community Service Block Grant funds for Cabarrus County have <br />been included in the annual appropriation to the Salisbury-Rowan Community <br />Service Council, Inc. (SRCSC). Plans are for the SRCSC to use this funding to <br />hire a caseworker to work with the' homeless and/or low income residents of <br />Cabarrus County in addressing such issues as employment, housing, and self- <br />sufficiency. Three Cabarrus County residents will be added to the current SRCSC, <br />Inc. Board of Directors. Ms. Carpenter advised that these members would include <br />Mr. Dan Carl, representing the Cabarrus Cooperative Christian Ministry, and Mr. <br />Greg Stewart, representing the low income community. In addition, she reported <br />that the Homeless Task Force had recommended that the Board of Commissioners <br />appoint herself as the Board's representative to the SRCSC Board of Directors. <br /> <br /> Mr. Vernon Cahoon, member of the Homeless Task Force, reported that the <br />funding is a one-year grant and requires no commitment for matching funds from <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Niblock and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Ms. Carolyn Carpenter as the Board's <br />representative to the Salisbury-Rowan Community Service Council, Inc. Board of <br />Directors for a term of one year ending April 30, 1996. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Olio-Mills asked Ms. Carpenter if she would be willing to <br />assist with a paint recycling project for Cabarrus County. She indicated her <br />willingness to share the information she had obtained from Florida regarding a <br />paint/household goods recycling project. Commissioner Casper advised that a <br />local task force had been set up to address the issue and would be contacting Ms. <br />Carpenter for assistance. <br /> <br /> Ms. Carpenter also presented a packet of information relative to flex <br />schools to the Board members for their review. <br /> <br />Budget Amendments (2) - Weststde Elementary School Construction <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Niblock and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendments for the <br />Westside School construction project. <br /> <br /> <br />
