461 <br /> <br />This instrument has been preaudited in the <br />manner required by the Local Government <br />Budget and Fiscal Control Act. <br /> <br />Director of Finance <br /> <br />Appointment - County Assessor/Tax Collector (Tax Administrator) <br /> <br /> UPON. MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Fennel with <br />Chairman Barnhart and Commissioners Fennel, Niblock and Olio-Mills voting for, <br />the Board reappointed Mr. Terry Rowland as County Assessor/Tax Collector (Tax <br />Administrator) for a term of four years ending June 30, 1999. <br /> <br />Award of the Food Services Contract for the Nutrition Program for the Elderly <br /> <br /> The Board ~eceived the written recommendation from Mr. Michael Murphy, <br />Director of Aging, to accept the food services bid from Canteen Corporation of <br />Charlotte for the Congregate Nutrition program for the next year. This was the <br />only bid received for this service. The net bid per meal was in the amount of <br />$2.4253 or approximately a 25 cents per meal increase from FY 1994-95. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Olio-Mills, seconded by Commissioner Fennel <br />with Commissioners Olio-Mills, Fennel, and Niblock and Chairman Barnhart voting <br />for, the Board accepted the' food services bid from Canteen Corporation of <br />Charlotte in the amount of $2.4253 (net bid per meal) and authorized the contract <br />for the Congregate Nutrition Program based on the bid specifications. <br /> <br />Request to Waive Hiring Freeze for Specific Vacant Positions <br /> <br /> The positions of Physician Extender II and Deputy Sheriff were added to the <br />list of vacant positions under consideration at this time. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Chairman Barnhart with <br />Commissioners Fennel, Niblock and Olio-Mills and Chairman Barnhart voting for, <br />the Board approved the request to waive the hiring freeze for the following <br />positions: <br /> <br />Aging <br />Aging <br />DSS <br />DSS <br />Sheriff <br />Health <br /> <br />In-Home Service Aide <br />In-Home Service Aide <br />Income Maintenance Caseworker II <br />Social Worker II <br />Deputy Sheriff <br />Physician Extender II <br /> <br />#57-60-103-004 <br />#57-60-103-006 <br />#56-45-101-043 <br />#56-50-101-04s <br />#21-10-101-56 <br />#58-30-101-2 (75%) <br />#58-50-101-2 <25%) <br /> <br />Appointment - Health Board <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Olio-Mills <br />with Commissioners Fennel, Olio-Mills, and Niblock and Chairman Barnhart voting <br />for, the Board appointed Mr. Charles C. Phillips as a "Public Citizen" <br />representative to the Health Board to complete an unexpired term ending February <br />28, 1998. Mr. Phillips will fill the position previously held by Mr. Ronald <br />McDonald. <br /> <br />Appointment - Jury Commission <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Chairman Barnhart with <br />Commissioners Fennel, Olio-Mills, and Niblock and Chairman Barnhart voting for, <br />the Board appointed Ms. Mae Block to the Jury Commission for a term of two years <br />ending June 30, 1997 contingent upon confirmation of her resignation from the <br />Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee. <br /> <br /> Ms. Block had indicated that she wished to resign from the Nursing Home <br />Committee. She will fill the position on the Jury Commission previously held by <br />Ms. Estelle Ferraro. <br /> <br /> <br />
