472 <br /> <br /> Commissioner Olio-Mills returned to the meeting. <br /> <br />~rop~sedAmendments to Chapter 14, Buildings and Building Regulations, Cabarrus <br />County Code of Ordinances <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Niblock, seconded by Commissioner Fennel with <br />Commissioners Niblock~ Fennel and Olio-Mills and Chairman Barnhart voting for, <br />the Board adopted on first reading the following amendments to the Code of <br />Ordinances. <br /> PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 14 <br /> BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />that Chapter 14, Buildings and Building Regulations, of the Code of <br />Ordinances, Cabarrus County, North Carolina, is hereby amended as <br />follows. <br /> <br />Add to Section 14-27(a) <br />Sealed architect or engineer drawings of appropriate footer and <br />foundation d~sign shall be submitted when existing structures (which <br />are. designed to human occupation) are to be relocated to a new <br />property. <br /> <br />Amend Section 14-29(b) <br />It shall be unlawful to proceed with work on a project after a <br />building, plumbing, heating, insulation, cooling, fire sprinkler, or <br />electrical contractor has been released or dismissed from the job <br />without first obtaining a letter of release from the structure's or <br />building's owner and/or the contractor. <br /> <br />Add to Section 14-32(b) <br /> <br />As the work pursuant to a permit progresses, local inspectors shall <br />make as many inspections of the work as may be necessary to satisfy <br />them that it is being done according to the provisions of the <br />applicable state and local laws and local ordinances and regulations <br />and the terms of the permit. Strings showing outside wall locations <br />and grade markers are required to show depth of concrete. In <br />exercising this power, each member of the planning, zoning and <br />building inspection department has a right, upon presentation of <br />proper credentials, to enter on any premises within the territorial <br />jurisdiction of the department at any reasonable hour for the <br />purposes of inspection or other enforcement action. <br /> <br />Adoption of New Building Permit Fee Schedule <br /> <br /> Mr. Gerald Newton, Planning and Development Area Manager, briefly reviewed <br />the recommended permit fee increases.
