603 <br /> <br />policies in effect for other county employees. Disability insurance <br />with a ninety (90) day elimination (waiting period) will be provided <br />to pay sixty percent (60%) of base salary for a period of five (5) <br />years until the EMPLOYEE becomes vested in the North Carolina Local <br />Governmental Employees' Retirement System. In addition, the <br />EMPLOYEE will have $50,000.00 of paid term life insurance to include <br />accidental death and dismemberment benefits. <br /> <br />SECTION XII. RETIREMENT <br /> A. EMPLOYER agrees to execute all necessary agreements <br />provided by the International City Management Association <br />Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC) for EMPLOYER'S participation in <br />said ICMA-RC retirement plan and, in addition to the base salary <br />paid by the EMPLOYER to the EMPLOYEE, EMPLOYER agrees to pay an <br />amount equal to five percent (5%) of the EMPLOYEE'S then base salary <br />into the ICMA-RC on the EMPLOYEE'S behalf at the beginning of each <br />fiscal year (July), and to transfer any ownership rights to sums so <br />deposited with ICMA-RC on the EMPLOYEE'S behalf by the EMPLOYER to <br />the EMPLOYEE upon the EMPLOYEE'S resignation or termination. <br />Initial payment will be made in the month of employment to cover the <br />remaining part of the fiscal year. This contribution is in lieu of <br />the 401(K) program provided for other qualifying employees. <br /> B. The EMPLOYER shall also contribute to the County's <br />standard retirement program with the North Carolina Local <br />Governmental Employees' Retirement System on the EMPLOYEE'S behalf <br />in the same manner and amount as is done for other County employees. <br /> <br />SECTION XIII. DUES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS <br /> EMPLOYER agrees to budget and pay for the professional dues, <br />subscriptions and training of the EMPLOYEE, necessary for his <br />continuation and full participation in national, regional and state <br />associations and organizations necessary and desirable for his <br />continued professional participation, growth and advancement and for <br />the good of the EMPLOYER in a yearly amount up to $1,500.00. <br /> <br />SECTION XIV. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT <br /> A. EMPLOYER agrees to budget and pay the travel and other <br />expenses of the EMPLOYEE for professional and official travel, <br />meetings and occasions adequate to continue the professional <br />development of EMPLOYEE and to adequately pursue necessary official <br />and other functions for EMPLOYER, including, but not limited to, the <br />Annual Conference of ICMA, the state county association, and such <br />other national, regional, state and local governmental groups and <br />committees thereof, which EMPLOYEE serves as a member; provided that <br />such travel and subsistence expenses shall apply to no more than one <br />(1) out of state and two (2) in-state trips per year unless <br />otherwise separately authorized by the Board. <br /> B. EMPLOYER also agrees to budget and pay for travel and <br />other expenses of the EMPLOYEE for short courses, institutes and <br />seminars that are necessary for his professional development and for <br />the good of the EMPLOYER. <br /> <br />SECTION XV. INDEMNIFICATION <br /> EMPLOYER shall defend, save harmless and indemnify EMPLOYEE <br />against any tort, professional liability claim or demand or legal <br />action, whether groundless or otherwise, arising out of an alleged <br />act or omission occurring in the performance of EMPLOYEE'S duties as <br />County Manager. EMPLOYER will provide a defense for any such claim, <br />demand or legal action and will pay the amount of any settlement or <br />judgement rendered therein, subject to the limits of law and <br />inclusive of third-party insurance. <br /> <br />SECTION XVI. BONDING <br /> EMPLOYER shall bear the full cost of any fidelity or other <br />bonds required of the EMPLOYEE under any federal, state law or local <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION XVII. RELOCATION EXPENSES <br /> EMPLOYER shall reimburse the EMPLOYEE for expenditures <br />associated with relocation of the EMPLOYEE'S family and possessions <br /> <br /> <br />
