211, <br /> <br />Mecklenburg County Senior Citizens Property Tax Program <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carpenter briefly reviewed the program recently implemented <br />in Mecklenburg County whereby senior citizens can work off their property tax <br />bills through temporary jobs with the County. The Board asked Commissioner <br />Carpenter to bring additional information regarding this program back to the <br />Board. <br /> <br />INFORMAL PUBLIG COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Chairman Bar. art opened the meeting for Info,al Public Comments at 7:30 <br />P.M. <br /> <br /> Mr. Andy Hahn outlined the following needs in Cabarrus County: (1) <br />Improvement of the Scholastic Aptitude (SAT) scores in the County Schools; (2) <br />Road Improvements; (3) Better method of trash disposal; and (4) Water and sewer <br />services throughout the county. He also expressed concern about recent <br />recommendations by the Committee of 100 regarding growth and transportation <br />issues for the Highway 49 and 1-85 corridor, and called for slow, orderly growth <br />in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gene Cruse of Mt. Pleasant objected to the ambulance charge of $185.00 <br />and to the Courthouse renovations which will provide an attorney/client <br />conference room and office for a retired judge. <br /> <br /> Mr. Terry Barbee thanked the Board for holding its meeting at the Cross of <br />Christ Lutheran Church. He wished the Board success for the remainder of the <br />year. <br /> <br /> The Board expressed its appreciation for the invitation to the Rimer <br />Community and thanked Mr. Rusty Drye for his assistance in arranging the meeting. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 8:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
