<br />Approval of Bond for. Sheriff
<br />
<br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Olio-Mills and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following Public Official Bond for
<br />Sheriff Robert M. Canaday.
<br />

<br /> KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, that Robert Murel Canaday as
<br />Principal (hereinafter called Principal), and Fidelity and Deposit
<br />Company of Maryland, as Surety (hereinafter called Surety), are held
<br />and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina in the penalty sum
<br />of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00), to the payment
<br />whereof, well and truly to be made and done, the Principal binds
<br />himself, his heirs, executors, and administrators, and the Surety
<br />binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally,
<br />firmly by these presents.
<br />

<br /> THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, That WHEREAS,
<br />the above-bounden Principal is elected and appointed Sheriff of
<br />Gabarrus County; if therefore, he shall well and truly execute and
<br />due return make of all process and precepts to him directed, and pay
<br />and satisfy all fees and sums of money by him received or levied by
<br />virtue of any process into the proper office into which the same, by
<br />the tenor thereof, ought to be paid, or to the person to whom the
<br />same shall be due, his executors, administrators, attorneys, or
<br />agenda; and in all other things well and truly and faithfully
<br />execute the said office of sheriff during his continuance therein,
<br />then above obligation to be void; otherwise to remain in full force
<br />and effect.
<br />
<br /> This Bond is executed by the Surety upon the following express
<br />conditions, which shall be conditions precedent to the right of
<br />recovery hereunder:
<br />
<br /> First: That regardless of the number of years this Bond shall
<br />continue or be continued in forcE, or be renewed, and of the number
<br />of annual premiums that shall be payable or paid, the Surety shall
<br />not be liable hereunder for more in the aggregate than the above-
<br />named penalty.
<br />
<br /> Second: That the Surety may, if it shall so elect, cancel
<br />this Bond by giving thirty (30) days notice in writing to the
<br />Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, Governmental
