The <br />contract called for an increase in the charge per mile from $.997 to $1.105 based <br />upon the following items: <br /> <br />(1) <br />(2) <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />To provide "door-to-door" service - Increase cost per mile by $.05. <br />Increase base pay of drivers from $4.50 to $5.00, with similar <br />increases in salary scale of existing drivers, to insure retention <br />of qualified and concerned drivers - Increase in per mile charge of <br />$.03 per mile. <br />System operation of approximately 282,000 miles per year - Increase <br />of approximately $.025 per mile. <br /> <br />Mr. Byrd pointed out that the actual County expenditure toward the van system is <br />approximately 15 percent of the actual cost. The increase in the contract cost <br />will be a total cost to the County of $4,441.50 for the 1995 calendar year based <br />on the system operation of 282,000 miles. <br /> <br /> There was lengthy discussion regarding the proposed contract, specifically <br />a blanket increase for'door-to-door service. This service is necessary primarily <br />for clients of the Department of Aging. <br /> <br /> Chairman Barnhart asked Commissioner Niblock to work with Mr. Byrd and to <br />bring a recommendation back to the Board on December 19 regarding the proposed <br />contract for transportation services. <br /> <br />Appointments to the Transportation Advisory Board - Mr. Mike Byrd <br /> <br /> The Board received the following recommendations for appointments to the <br />Transportation Advisory Board: <br /> <br />Ms. Carol Wagoner (Transportation Coordinator with the Department of <br /> Aging) Recommended by Mr. Mike Murphy, Aging Director <br />Mr. Allen Small (Social Services Board Member) - Recommended by the <br /> Social Services Board <br /> <br />There was brief discussion regarding the feasibility of appointing a County <br />employee to serve on an advisory board. However, a majority of the Board <br />indicated their support of the recommended appointment. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Casper, seconded by Commissioner Niblock and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Ms. Carol Wagoner as the Department of <br />Aging representative to the Transportation Advisory Board. Ms. Wagoner's term <br />of appointment will end on June 30, 1997. <br /> <br /> <br />
