392 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the spirit of our democracy affirms that unhindered <br />opportunity for all Americans is essential to our economic well <br />being, and that our citizens should be judged on the content of <br />their character and be able to advance according to merit and <br />achievement; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Cabarrus Board of County Commissioners wishes to <br />provide equal economic opportunities for all of the citizens of our <br />County, and to encourage the expansion of opportunities that ensure <br />the strong growth of minority businesses; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners does <br />hereby proclaim the week of September 12 - 18, 1993, as <br /> <br />MINORITY ENTERPRISES DEVELOPMENT WEEK IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />and does hereby call on the citizens of Cabarrus to join together <br />with local minority business enterprises in appropriate observances. <br /> WITNESS MY HAND and the official Seal of the County of Cabarrus. <br /> <br />/s/ Carolyn B. Carpenter <br /> Chairperson <br /> <br /> PROCLAMATION <br />City of Concord/Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, more than four million people in the United States <br />are affected by Alzheimer's and Related Disorders, the fourth <br />leading cause of death among older Americans; and <br /> WHEREAS, nearly 2000 Cabarrus County Alzheimer's families are <br />affected by this brain disease for which there is no known cure or <br />means of prevention; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Alzheimer's Association-Southern Piedmont Chapter <br />and its affiliated Cabarrus County Alzheimer's Family Support Group <br />are dedicated to education, patient and family services, advocacy, <br />and research; and <br /> WHEREAS, the affiliated Cabarrus County Alzheimer's Family <br />Support Group has organized the first Gabarrus County Memory Walk on <br />September 25, 1993, to generate awareness of this disease and its <br />impact on family members, and to generate funds to directly benefit <br />local causes and support national research. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE WE, Bernie Edwards, Mayor of the City of <br />Concord and Carolyn Carpenter, Chairman, Cabarrus County <br />Commissioners, do hereby proclaim September 25, 1993 as <br /> <br />MEMORY WALK DAY FOR ALZHEIMERS <br /> <br /> in Concord-Cabarrus, and encourage all citizens to join <br />together in support of the good work by the Alzhetmer's <br />Association-Southern Piedmont Chapter and its affiliated Cabarrus <br />County Alzheimer's Family Support Group. <br /> WITNESS OUR HANDS and the offidial Seal of the City of Concord <br />and Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />Bernie Edwards, Mayor <br />City of Concord <br /> <br />Carolyn Carpenter, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Commissioners <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Correction of Fiscal Year 1993 Budget Ordinance <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Chairman Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to correct the minutes of June 15, 1992 to <br />reflect the following 1992-93 Budget Ordinance that was actually adopted instead <br />of the one shown in the minutes. <br /> <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BUDGET ORDINANCE <br />FISCAL YEAR 1992-1993 <br /> <br /> <br />
