424 <br /> <br />Space Needs - Department of Social Services <br /> <br /> Commissioner Payne proposed that the County personnel build a facility at <br />Frank Liske Park to house the Parks and Recreation Department and that the <br />Department of Social Services move into the space currently occupied by Parks and <br />Recreation. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Payne and seconded by Commissioner Barnhart <br />to instruct General Services Administrator John Page, his employees and <br />additional help, including the weatherization personnel, to build a facility at <br />Frank Liske Park to house the Parks and Recreation Department at a cost of <br />$80,000.00. To fund the facility, the Board agreed to appropriate an additional <br />$60,000.00 from sources recommended by Mr. Witherspoon to be used with the <br />$20,000.00 currently budgeted for the mobile unit at the Department of Social <br />Services. The Board further instructed Mr. Witherspoon to hav~ the appropriate <br />budget amendment for the additional $60,000.00 at the next Board meeting. <br /> <br /> There was discussion regarding the vacant Program Supervisor position in <br />the Parks and Recreation Department and the need for a satellite registration <br />site for recreation program participants if the department relocates to the Park. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Casper, seconded by Chairman Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to call the question. <br /> <br /> The Board voted unanimously to approve the motion as set forth above by <br />Commissioner Payne and seconded by Commissioner Barnhart. <br /> <br />Home Health Agency - Lease Proposals <br /> <br /> The Board reviewed the following lease proposals for the Home Health <br />Agency. <br /> SUMMARY OF LEASE PROPOSALS <br /> FOR HOME HEALTH AGENCY <br /> 5 YEAR TERMS <br /> <br />Jeffrey G. Carpenter & Company - Branchview Plaza Shopping <br />Center. 9,443 sq. ft. (charged only for 9,000 sq. ft.) x <br />$7.60 per sq. ft. - $68,400 <br /> <br />Craven & Company Realtors LePhillip Park <br />8,000 sq. ft. x $12.50 per sq. ft. - $100,000 plus exterior <br />maintenance <br /> <br />Copperfield Plaza, Inc.~ - Copperfield Place <br />8,000 sq. ft. x $9.90 per sq. ft. - $79,200 <br /> <br /> Mr. John Day, Budget Officer, reviewed the Home Health Agency space needs, <br />which included approximately 9,000 to 10,000 square feet on one floor, a central <br />geographic location, and the appropriate timing for the new lease. The current <br />lease will expire on May 31, 1994 and a transition period will be required. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Fennel and <br />unanimously carried, the Board directed that the request for lease proposals to <br />meet Home Health Agency space needs be opened to the public. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Barnhart requested information on the cost to upfit and/or <br />demolish the County buildings known as the "Morris Property" in order to <br />determine how this property fits into the County's space plans for the future. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Fennel requested the County Manager to provide a listing of <br />all County-owned property and/or leased property at the meeting on November 6. <br />This would also include a listing of all County property that is leased to <br />outside agencies. <br /> <br /> <br />
