Green I1 <br /> <br />Catherine Hartsell Green <br /> <br />Appointment - Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee (1) <br /> <br /> The Board acknowledged the resignation of Ms. Vessie C. Belk from the <br />Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee effective August 31, 1992. <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter nominated Ms. Eileen Cleveland to fill the vacancy on <br />the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee. There were no other nominees and <br />Ms. Eileen Cleveland was appointed by acclamation to an initial one-year term on <br />the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee. <br /> <br />Proclamation - Recycling Month in Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> Dr. William F. Pilkington, Health Director, reviewed the recycling <br />campaign, "Turn Trash into Cash", which was designed to increase recycling <br />participants in the county. There will be monthly drawings for two prizes worth <br />$100.00 or more and a grand prize drawing at the conclusion of the campaign for <br />a trip to Florida donated by Christopher's Travel. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Chairman Carpenter with <br />Commissioners Payne, Hamby and Simmons and Chairman Carpenter voting for, the <br />Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the waste disposal crisis in Cabarrus County is a phenomenon that <br />has spawned many recycling activities. Among these, one is our curbSide <br />collection program. <br /> WHEREAS, this program started off with very high participation rates, only <br />to see them decline in the next year. <br /> WHEREAS, with the situation continuing to decline, the Cabarrus County <br />Health Department is planning a Recycling Campaign "Turn Trash Into Cash." <br /> WHEREAS, the citizens of Cabarrus County are encouraged to increase their <br />efforts in reducing the amount of trash going to the landfill by removing all <br />recycling items and placing them in the appropriate recycling container. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carolyn Carpenter, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim the month of September, 1992 as: <br /> RECYCLING MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br />and call upon all citizens to participate in all activities planned in <br />celebration of the event. <br /> <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and cause the Seal of <br />Cabarrus County to be affixed this 17th day of August, 1992. <br /> <br />/s/ Carolyn Carpenter <br />Carolyn Carpenter <br />Chairman, Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Water and Sewer District Meeting <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter recessed the meeting at 7:20 P.M. until the conclusion <br />of the meeting of the Water and Sewer District. <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter reconvened the meeting of the Board of Commissioners at <br />7:25 P.M. <br /> <br />ADDITIONS TO AGENDA <br /> <br />Recognition of Scouts <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter recognized Michael White and Matt Richardson from Scout <br />Troop 128. <br /> <br /> <br />
