Carpenter, Chairman <br /> Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />Consideration of Possible Merger of City/County Departments <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter proposed the formation of a task force to study the <br />possibility of merging some of the County and City departments. She appointed <br />Commissioners Barnhart and Payne to serve as the County's representatives on the <br />task force. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Chairman Carpenter with <br />Commissioners Hamby, Barnhart and Simmons and Chairman Carpenter voting for, the <br />Board approved the appointment of Commissioners Barnhart and Payne as the <br />County's representatives on a task force to study the possible merger of some <br />City/County departments. The Board further authorized the County Manager to send <br />a letter to the City of Concord as the first step in the process to get the task <br />force started on its work. <br /> <br />Visit by President George Bush <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter reminded everyone that President George Bush would be <br />in Kannapolis on Wednesday, October 21, 1992. She invited all to attend. <br /> <br />Board Retreat <br /> <br /> Chairman Carpenter announced that the Board retreat had been rescheduled <br />from October 30 and 31 to November 6 and 7, 1992 at the Governmental Center. <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart with <br />Commissioners Simmons, Barnhart and Hamby and Chairman Carpenter voting for, the <br />Board moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel and a contractual <br />matter. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hamby left the meeting at this time. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Simmons <br />with Commissioners Barnhart and Simmons and Chairman Carpenter voting for, the <br />executive session was adjourned. <br /> <br />No report was filed on the executive session. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman <br />Carpenter adjourned the meeting at 7:45 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
